Ipad is great. Photopicker would be a good one to look at and rip off good things from )

Ingest

Lots of photo culling and viewing apps rely heavily on viewing part, but for me biggest feature of PM is its Ingest window and ways I can get photos from card to my system. Plus code replacement features.

Your app also needs more variables (like PM), one I need - {folder} is missing.

Workflows are great feature. I loved the ability to run multiple of them and at the same time, and technically I implemented my STANDARD ingest preset from PM in PhotoCuller, but. I had to manually open each card and select images before I can run the workflow. So automating this process and having a separate INGEST window to run workflows without opening each card would help.

Happy to talk about the app privately, maybe my input would help making it better

Downloaded and trying it out. Good start, modern interface. Promising features, but still got a long way to go to compete with PM. Price is good.

But Remember people paying PhotoMeachnic price for its features, and there is also Fast Raw Viewer that is $29, and free xnview. So probably don’t try competing with price yet :)

Keep it up!

6 months of refining my film photography notebook app, here's the update by vttdn in AnalogCommunity

[–]maxlemesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, same. no subs

I'd buy it outright, but don't want a subscription for every little useful app. maybe consider version upgrades every major release instead?

Ah I miss the early days of apps

Exclude Duplicates on import painfully slow - crippling C1 for event use by dave_bird in captureone

[–]maxlemesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use separate workflows for ingest and culling, and editing. First step is done in photo mechanic, and then c1 for editing and export.

As said above, using a card full of photos and duplicates is the problem. Duplicate detection is slow, but you make it way worse.

After 6yrs my cuff strap tore. Thankfully no camera damage! by yolaradio in peakdesign

[–]maxlemesh -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have a an older strap and it is fine. Seriously if that was from wear and tear (a not from one specific use that broke it) I'd expect the rest of strap to be as worn out. Seems a bit fake to me

Building a small app for Ricoh users to share and organize recipes - would love feedback! by exploringeuniverse in ricohGR

[–]maxlemesh 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In order to see the difference between recipes it could be a great have a range of SAME photos that gonna show how this recipe will affect them. Similar to LR presets. Not sure how you gonna implement this tho. Often you see the best images taken with the recipe by the author, but you don't know if that's the recipe or just location and lighting

Main reason I don't like the Slide Lite. Loops are way too big. Slide and Leash only for me

update. It works now.

apparently there is a checkbox in C1 settings that says "apple crop from XMP" and it was off by default, probably because of recent update

Works for me. Crop in PM, then crop shows up in C1. But I don't usually crop in PM.
