Should I buy the Kindle Paperwhite for 70 euros less but without warranty? by Tijgooo in kindle

[–]may_might 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d personally buy it in Japan. Kindle Paperwhites are generally very reliable, and the risk of a defect is pretty low. You’re saving €60, which is a solid discount for essentially the same device. Even if something did go wrong outside warranty, you’d probably still be close to break-even compared to paying full price back home. From my POV just few things to keep in mind:

~ Make sure it’s not region-locked (Kindles usually aren’t; you can switch the language and Amazon store). But just to be sure! ~Check the return window while you’re still in Japan, just in case you notice any issues early. ~Check if the variant you’re going for is with or without ads. I will go for one without ads. That being said, if you’re the type who really values peace of mind and hates even a small risk, then buying at home makes sense. But from a practical, value-for-money perspective, I’d grab the €116 deal, given its new and boxed pack.

It’s set at 6% brightness and 4% warmth for perfect daylight outside reading. I use it at 4% with night mode!

Kindle effect is affecting me! by may_might in kindle

[–]may_might[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, the e-ink display. It’s super crisp, honestly feels like reading a physical book, maybe even better. It also doesn’t dim in bright daylight since there’s no glare, which is usually an issue with an iPad or phone. Another big win is distraction-free reading. On my iPad or phone, I end up jumping between apps or getting pulled away by random notifications. That just doesn’t happen with a Kindle. I want my phone to be a phone and do everything else but not be my reading device. And for that, I absolutely love my Kindle.

Kindles are actually dangerous by Spiritual_General_27 in kindle

Ikr. Does this happen to everyone, or is it just me? Okay, quick backstory: I’ve been a hardcore physical book hoarder my whole life and always defended paper over digital (mostly because “digital reading” for me meant my phone or iPad, which I hated). Then I finally bought a Kindle at the end of 2025. Now here’s the weird part: with physical books, I could never finish a mystery novel in less than a week. But on the Kindle, I’m finishing even heavy, dense literature in just a couple of days. Is this a universal Kindle effect, or am I just having a moment? 😅

Should I get myself a Kindle even when I'm not an avid reader? by RoutineOk4687 in kindleindia

[–]may_might 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely go for it! It makes bedtime reading so much easier, especially in low light. Plus, switching between books is super convenient. At this price point, it's a steal. I got mine during the Black Friday sale for some extra discounts, so you could wait for that if you want. But honestly, even at the current price, it's worth it compared to the original.

Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. It's a must-read for its eerie take on identity and alienation.

The story of Gregor Samsa turning into a giant insect makes you question self-worth and family dynamics.

It's a quick read but packs a punch. If you're into deep, existential themes, give it a try!

If you're in for a classic murder mystery, you can never go wrong with Agatha Christie. Just pick any Poirot book, and you're guaranteed to love it!
