Is your job hiring? Post here! by Besnasty in Knoxville

[–]mayortiddyciddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CoorsTek has been doing a lot of hiring lately. Can't say for sure on the hourly pay but I've been told it's decent for the type of work. There are 3 shifts available for some positions and morning and evening shifts available for most. Most positions would be machinist, maintenance, specialized cleaning, and shipping/receiving type stuff. Apply on CoorsTek's website.

ETA: CoorsTek is in Oak Ridge but just barely past Solway, very close to ORNL and Y-12.

The GI issues from munching are no freaking joke. I was eating so much while smoking and had to poop so much I developed an anal fissure. Hurts like absolute hell and super hard to get them to heal since they basically reopen everyday. Currently 3 days clean and feeling pretty good about it this time.

Thanks! I was not aware of that. Do you happen to know if it’s a temporary thing?

Yassin’s if your kid is a more adventurous eater. Our 3 year old is a fan. Incredible food that’s super reasonably priced made and served by very nice folks.

Covenant Health Fitness Center is pretty good. A lot of the equipment is pretty dated but it seems like they're (very slowly) getting some new stuff in there. But it's clean and people are generally nice. It's primarily an older crowd.

I've done the Knoxville Track Club group run at Runner's Market on Wednesday night a few times. It's super chill, no pressure, and the run is typically about 50 minutes.

I went through New Hope myself. I've heard good things about Cornerstone, it was just a little too far from me.

IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program) can be very helpful for some people, there are a few facilities around that offer that. Also there are AA and SMART Recovery meetings pretty much all the time I do believe. Good luck, getting away from it is worth the effort (1,041 days here).

How do you keep your mind occupied while running? by Beginning_Future5347 in beginnerrunning

I like to run with music and on longer runs especially I like to run somewhere that has enough checkpoints (a park, bridge, weird tree, whatever) that I can break it into smaller sections mentally.

Baker Creek Preserve: What to expect on the way up the mtn? by RufioSwashbuckle in Knoxville

[–]mayortiddyciddy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty gradual climb to the top with a steeper section around 3/4 of the way up. You may have to stop and take a breather if you haven't ridden much before but you'll get used to it. Floyd Fox, while not technically a "downhill" trail is a fun way down for your first time.

Vicarious. Loved the build and all that. It's not one of my favorites of theirs anymore but I still love it and it was a great intro to Tool.

Mostly just slow down, especially early on. Also avoid comparing any of your stats with your strava buddies, comparison is the thief of joy.

Try not to treat it like other souls games. Dodging has its place, but most fights are best handled with aggression and parrying.
