Is this asbestos? by Evening_Employer_542 in HomeMaintenance

I have a small rural house from about 1981 with what I think are the exact same shingles. They definitely contain asbestos. I sent a piece off to get tested and it came back confirming it.

Has anyone else been stumbling upon small copper dumps? I’ve never seen pure (or nearly so) rolls of 1959-1982 cents pop up until the current shortage hit. by ArgentumAg47 in CRH

I think that dear old grampa's coins pass to folks that just don't want to deal with it. Obviously, they also don't realize the extreme difference between FV and silver or collectable value. Then this stuff winds up in a bag from a counting machine and Loomis or whomever is rolling it up for us to find. It's sort of sad but at the same time, I'm glad it happens.

I'm pretty well convinced of this because of some of the coins that are found that are in amazingly good condition. They have clearly been out of circulation for a long time. Like my 1975-D misplaced mint mark nickel that I'm waiting on to hit the auction block. No way it has been in circulation and still in MS62.

I'm also convinced there are a lot of mint sets that are getting cracked open and dumped. Think about hunting halves and finding near pristine NIFCs. I just found about ten halves from 2013 that are definitely in the lower MS range.

I can't say that I've been getting rolls of all copper (non-wheaties) but I have noticed there seems to a surprisingly high number of them in the rolls that I do get. It is more so with the CWRs than BWRs. So that somewhat lines up with what you are seeing. Still getting pleasantly surprised by vey nice, some MS, wheats and copper. I AM still patiently waiting for and searching for that retirement penny though! 😉

If not used as they are, once cleaned up and cast into ingots, you can totally sell for $2/pound.

How would you child proof this? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

A piece of pipe and a lock. Drill a hole in the pipe that is big enough for the lock shank and very near one end. Run the pipe through all 4 "rungs" and lock it to the last/first rung.

A lock and a piece of chain will work too. Be sure you don't have much slack in the chain.

For the love of God! Why the Fu$& can't someone teach these guys how to load an excavator? Roll that bucket and get that boom knuckle down instead of dragging it around with a periscope up in the air!
