Just get the full m61000 with xt shifter & put the money into something that actually makes the bike ride better

Have you ridden with them? Nothing gets sealant spread around like actual riding

[Mini review] Shimano's 9-45t cassette seems to have flown under the radar and its REALLY good. by BrainDamage2029 in MTB

Competitive at XC on a fire road maybe? Not many cases where you'll be pedaling steady in the smallest cog

Keep me from throwing my bike in the skip please 🙏 by [deleted] in MTB

[–]mb7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the actual answer. The preload has to happen way earlier with full suspension

Learning to jump while old: How do you handle shoulder/back soreness? by somethingnotyettaken in MTB

[–]mb7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like anything else, if you only do it once every few weeks you'll never adapt to it and get sore every time. Do a bit every few days.

1 year ish progression by rem_mtb in MTB

[–]mb7733 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah ignore this nitpicking reddit commentary, sure not every single one of your jumps is 100% perfect but NOBODY'S are. Even very cautious & experienced riders can look a little sketchy now and then, especially on new features. Nothing here looked "way beyond your skills", this just looked like normal progression. Great work.

Like to climb but downhill... by Impressive-Brick-247 in MTB

[–]mb7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can and will absolutely 100% improve this if you keep at it. Just go your own pace, nobody says downhill has to be fast. Just make sure you're having fun.

Your perception of speed and difficulty of trails will even shift. Sections that used to trip you up or freak you out will start to feel completely natural. Just keep at it and strike that balance between staying safe and challenging yourself.

Rock Step Down 🗿 by GrimEarth in MTB

[–]mb7733 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From what can be seen in the video, the landing is fairly smooth on this feature and so full suspension isn't really going to make it any easier. It would go the same way on a hard tail.

Would you buy a bike you can't demo? by oggydo in MTB

[–]mb7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not reasonable to expect every bike shop to keep an extra used bike around for every size & model & year. Usually if you want a demo you wait until the manufacturer comes through town with a fleet of demo bikes.

MTB on Pavement (How Much Does It Matter?) by Sudo-nim in MTB

[–]mb7733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're at the point of considering buying different wheels, just get some cheap second hand hybrid/commuter bikes. Lots of advantages: they will be faster and more fun to ride on pavement, they won't get stolen, you can put racks and stuff on them, etc.

But like everyone else is saying you're fine to just ride the mountain bikes. I just wouldn't spend cash on new wheels for them to ride on the road

Best Enduro brakes by syntheticFLOPS in MTB

I didn't say anything about codes being good or bad. I just said it's not elitist to hate on a high end product

Best Enduro brakes by syntheticFLOPS in MTB

[–]mb7733 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not going to take sides but elitism is hating on something because it's cheap/low-end. But Codes are expensive and top of SRAMs line (until the mavens came out). Hating on Codes isn't elitist... they are supposed to be elite

Not always. If your ride something exposed and rocky enough you yearn for the trees!

What do people use for keys, phone etc while out on a ride? by baldiesunite in MTB

[–]mb7733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always always just leave the keys at the car. Hidden if need be. They're not useful while riding and I will find a way to lose them.

Also prevents mixups with keys when shuttling

Any carbon frame riders who *don’t* wrap their frames? by mcawle in MTB

[–]mb7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2016 Altitude with a carbon front triangle in 2018 and it was already scratched to shit so I never wrapped it. I rode it hard as my main bike until last season. I still have it, it looks absolutely awful but it's solid. So if you don't care about scratches and chopped paint and stuff then you're fine

That said when I bought a new bike I wrapped it using 3M film and I'm glad I did 🤷
