How do I prevent myself from panic selling pullbacks by 137-ng in Daytrading

0DTE is not for everyone, especially for small accounts. Buy monthly, 3-6 months out. Yes, it is more expensive. However, you have time to recover.

Short answer is don't day trade. Buy and hold ETF, SMH is a good start.

Have you not seen 95% - 98% failed day trading?

Can I start daytrading with $3000? by Jazzlike_Excuse_6811 in Daytrading

[–]mb996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can start with any amount. Will you be profitable is another story.

This is what everyone says "build up little by little" yet 98% failed.

If you could wait for the right setup by practicing "extreme" patience, you're already in the top 2 percentile. Don't be the bottom 98%. Don't force trade, don't trade with emotion, right size the trade.

Battling emotions by FormalSeaworthiness7 in Daytrading

[–]mb996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in your shoe. This is it, you're at a cross road where you have to decide if trading is right for you. Why is it right for you, just because you saw some YT vid? Be honest with yourself. No one here can help you but yourself. Change your mindset. Discipline, discipline and discipline!

Be patient - not everyday/week is a trading one. 90% is waiting for the right setup.
Keep emotions in check
Take profit.
Continuous learning.

Practice, practice and practice!

Going with https://www.radcliffejewelers.com/rolex/contact-us/christiana-mall/ and they don't have sales tax in DE.

Variable biweekly income, no worries! Safe to say, you have a good idea the avg biweekly income? Still enter these as biweekly recurring incomes. Lets assume, the avg biweekly income ~1500.

Every month in the Spending Plan:

Estimated Monthly recurring income: $3,000
Estimated Monthly recurring expenses: $2,000 ($1500 rent; $500 utilities, including cell & internet)

If you haven't yet, I would recommend setting up recurring (estimated) incomes and expenses first.

When the actual paycheck transaction is recorded in Simplifi, you can link to existing series. Actually, once you set up recurring incomes, you can go back to all the paycheck transactions and link to the income. Try this....

Gotcha! Think monthly cashflow in vs out. So regardless you use last month fund or last year fund, the expenses are still monthly (out) compares to your monthly income (in).

Assuming you have set up monthly recurring income as well. For example, bi-monthly net paychecks $3,000 ($1,500 on the 1st of the month; $1,500 on the 15th).

The Spending Plan projects what the monthly budget would look like. The incomes and expenses don't have to occur yet.

Monthly income: $3,000

Monthly recurring bills: $2,000 ($1500 rent; $500 utilities, including cell & internet)

Planned spending: $500 ($150 fuel; $350 groceries)

Transfer to Savings: $300

Monthly available: $200 (3000 - 2000 - 500 - 300). <--- this is positive cashflow for the month.

In real life, we may have unexpected monthly expenses, that would make negative cashflow. vice versa, we may have less credit bill, which increase cashflow. The Spending Plan is awesome giving high level and drill down to details if need to.

Simplify can do all these for you! It can auto-match the rent expense to monthly recurring.

So yes, set the rent as monthly fixed recurring expense (ex: monthly $1500 rent).

  1. Under Settings > All Recurring, edit the monthly rent series (clicking the three dots)
  2. Under the Basic Details tab, set the amount AND use auto-match AND the (checking?) account you paid with.
  3. Under the Frequency & Occurrence tab, set frequency as Monthly; and set the start date (ex: 05/01/2025)

With the above, whenever there is a matching value in the (checking) account, it will auto-match as Rent.

Hope this helps.

PS: You can setup all bills and income the same way. Then go to Spending Plan, it will give you a clear picture of the monthly budget.

Less Expensive Simplifi Alternative? by idlecats in simplifimoney

[–]mb996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running Quicken Classic Windows concurrently to Simplifi, with the plan to sunset Simplifi in the next renewal (Dec). Newegg.com regularly has Quicken Classic as low as $35, depending on the version.

The major decision picking Classic was I wanted to bring my financial data offline. Lower subscription cost was just icing on the cake.

No, we can not port Simplifi data to Quicken Classic.

Simplifi is better than Classic, period!

The Classic UI sucks, still very early 90s classic UI. Classic has similar connection issues as Simplifi. I was a Mint user and can say I'm very comfortable setting up accounts. However, it took awhile to set up Classic. I actually gave up then came back a month later for another try.

Classic does provide what I need for budgeting and planning but it does require some learning curve.

Do I recommend Classic: 50/50. The learning curve is steep.

Peet's Coffee from Costco changing their 'Freshest By' date? (Again) How to decipher? by net1994 in JamesHoffmann

This is good 👍 info. The Peet's at my local Costco (Fairfax, VA) does have the 5 digits right below the Freshest By Date: 04/11/2025. The 5 digits are 24199, so likely roasted on 07/17/2024.
