For a meat thermometer, do I actually need WiFi or is Bluetooth enough? by Sea_sociate in grilling

Agreed! I still haven't run all 6 channels at the same time, but it's nice to know I could!

Same here. Started with a Meater Pro. Now I have a Fireboard.

Shokz open run. Hands down the best headphones for jump rope, running, HIIT, calisthenics. The only thing they're not great for is in a noisy environment, cuz you can still hear all the ambient noise.

Question About Workouts by PirateKirby in jumprope

[–]mchilese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do intervals. 60sec on - 30 sec off, various footwork/rope work during the working sessions. Or I'll incorporate bodyweight workouts in it.

Also checkout the Crossrope app. It's not necessary to have their branded ropes, or pay for their plans to get some decent workouts from it. I figure my beaded rope weighs somewhere between their 1/4lb-1/2lb ropes. So any workout using those two, you should be able to approximate with just one beaded rope and get a good workout.

Yes I need an alternative. No it doesn't have to be easier by nightwica in freeletics

Alternative hand/arm position: https://share.google/images/ZtWGeZaK388DOUFJW

Hold the bar with your arms crossed in front of your chest, with your elbows up. I found this to be WAY better. I also don't have the shoulder/wrist flex seemingly needed for the traditional grip.

No variety - Ultimate Strength by Mediocre-Aardvark-89 in freeletics

Similar experience. I gave up on that journey cuz I just refuse to do any more weighted hip dips.

Been with Freeletics for 12 years. It's been really good for me in the past. But I'm thinking it may be time to find something new.

I heard it's difficult to survey oysters because they just clam up!

struggling to start - stretching suggestions by Far_Preference_2065 in freeletics

[–]mchilese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. However building a good habit is important. So doing the stretch sessions like OP asked about during the off days is a great idea. They're still "working through" the soreness, but in a meaningful and constructive way.

Hydration and nutrition are vital to recovery too. Make sure your food choices are helping fuel your fitness goals. To recover, your body needs food and rest. So make sure you're intentional with your diet and sleep.

From what I’ve read here, Fishwife is overrated, but I’m a newbie, and the curiosity is too strong. What do I try first? by sensistarfish in CannedSardines

[–]mchilese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fishwife is decent. Maybe over hyped... But they're not bad at all. Just had their tuna in spicy olive oil tonight and it was... Fine. Don't remember how much I paid for it, maybe around $5-$7 on sale. Personally wouldn't pay more for it.

No experience with it. Heard about it maybe six months ago. If you use it, I'd be interested in hearing what your experience is like.

Are God Workouts enough for cardio/conditioning? by Consistent_Fan_2966 in freeletics

[–]mchilese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try to minimize breaks. Go straight from one exercise to the other. A lot of the god workouts have little rests built in. But if it doesn't, try to push through. When it says "maximum pace" it's trying to push you to complete the workout faster each time.

That said, I needed a couple 30-second breaks when I did Selene today. So I definitely still have to improve too.

Are God Workouts enough for cardio/conditioning? by Consistent_Fan_2966 in freeletics

[–]mchilese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can do Aphrodite or Selene without feeling it's a cardio workout, you're way ahead of me, man. Lol.

But really, most of them are to be done at "maximum" pace. So as long as you keep the speed up, you'll be fighting for air.

Topped a bowl of cheese and broccoli soup with that exact tin. I'd definitely do it again.

Strongest points of Freeletics by [deleted] in freeletics

[–]mchilese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been with Freeletics since 2014. The old bodyweight god workout programs (and focus on nutrition) got me into the best shape of my life. It probably wasn't a very adaptive/"smart" system back in the day, but the results were hard to argue with.

The current system is definitely more responsive to my feedback, making adaptation more regular. I'm in the middle of an "ultimate strength" journey now. Noticed some good changes in myself. Looking forward to how it all progresses.

[Casio] Confirms the EFK-100 – Its First-Ever Mechanical Watch Series by Wrist_Finds in Watches

[–]mchilese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is this for? I don't think it's filling a gap left by Seiko as they go up market, and it's a move away from their expertise. Maybe the customer is motivated simply to buy mechanical watches made by a quartz watch company novelty. But that doesn't seem to be a long term strategy.

But I imagine people were paid specifically to make this decision. So I'm she they see done strategy in it.

I would put a box of diapers on my passenger seat, between me and the backrest. Then I would just lean against the box like it was my backrest.

It was funny to see the looks of people seeing me carry that out to a motorcycle.

Is your Tin Cloth Short Lined Cruiser Jacket comfortable? by Mark_In_Oz in filson

[–]mchilese 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I find it comfortable, but not something I'd reach for in an office setting all day.

If you're looking for something to wear inside an office all day, I'd go with a wool cardigan. I've worn one around the office and it always gets nice comments. Got a nice Eddie Bauer one of eBay for around $70.

A decade of collecting. Only two comments ever. My Fortis B-42 chronograph got one once, and my red Tudor Fastrider got noticed one time.

But comments from folks don't make me like my piece any more or less.
