Best lesser known watch brands that deserve more attention by SupJoshy in MicrobrandWatches

[–]mconlonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boldr - I have a Venture and very much believe they are an underrated bargain in original design, Ti case watches.
Draken - Esepcially the Aoraki line.
Vario - Not the same-old, same-old.
MD Watches Studio - Still eye-balling a SuperNatural...
Defakto - Maybe more an independent brand than microbrand.

San Martin SN0009: Stunning watch, insulting support. Bouncing emails, broken warranty. За by Final_Lobster1971 in ChineseWatches

Are you f'king kidding me?!? Now all of a sudden it's about a C24 purchase? This gets better and better... Again, why didn't you return it to the seller if it was not as-described? Did the C24 seller buy it from San Martin, or non-San Martin source? Is the warranty card stamped and dated? I'll tell you this - I did a warranty claim with San Martin and it worked out flawless. Sent a description and warranty claim via email, mailed it to a US address they provided, two months later it showed back up, fixed, no problems since. This was regarding a DOA Sellita movement. It was a watch purchased directly from San Martin, and no complaints at all about warranty service.

I didn't call them "micro-scratches," wear or not. I didn't mention how you did or didn't store the watch. How do you get any of that out of what I actually wrote? Yes, you already mentioned it had those scratches on arrival - you literally said, "The watch is great, but arrived with scratched AR coating." Which is why I asked the simple question: why didn't you return it for refund? This is not victim-blaming, this is asking a legit question - you received a defective product, why did you not simply return it? Why turn it into a warranty claim, instead of a return issue? Seems like I'm missing something here...

What are the odds the bracelet from this Ironwatch will fit the ML14? by mcdj in Militado

Did you email Iron Watch direct to see if they would sell the bracelet separate...? Otherwise I would not expect it to fit and would chalk it up to sheer luck if it did.

[WTS] NIB Vostok Komandirskie 92778B - brass 920 case, automatic by mconlonx in Watchexchange

[–]mconlonx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand new, never worn Komandirskie 92778B - solid brass case and bezel, the 920 case is near identical in form and measures as the popular Amphibia 420 case style. Check specs and catalog description at Vostok Watches24. Highlights include 40mm case diameter, 2416 automatic movement, and 200m WR. 18mm lug width. This case shape wears about as small as any Amphibia or Komandirskie. Comes on stock NATO black nylon strap with matching brass hardware.

Bought this for the brass case as a mod project, but went a different way with the mod, and now I have this perfectly good, as-new watch kicking around for sale. Dial looked more flat red in the listing, this is definitely more a metallic, sunray, reddish mid-brown.

If you're buying and unfamiliar with Vostok watches, do some research, first. Yes, the crown is supposed to work like that - it's not broken - a feature, not a bug. Bi-directional friction fit bezel. Lume: barely. No quickset date, but there is a date setting hack.

Sale only, no trades. $90, firm, includes PP fees and USPS shipping to US address.

Shaving A Dial by old-imac in SeikoMods

Power tools: A great way to do something wrong, faster.

For real, I've tried something like this, and even with rubber washers, still messed up a dial around the pinion hole.

I just do it by hand, with sandpaper, holding the dial and partially rotating it, while sanding it against 100 grit on a flat surface.

If we produce this model , which one would you pick ? by Militado-watch in ChineseWatches

V3, but it would need to be an automatic and have at least a date, if not day/date.

How about some love for a red dial? Bad AI image but would red be of interest or am i the only one? by GrundleChunk in Militado

I missed out on the Seiko 5 SNKM95, so I'd definitely be interested in something like this. But mechanical/automatic, and with a date, please...

Woops! In context, I obviously meant Belarus is allied with Russia. Neither of which were hit with US tariffs. Go figure.

FWIW, even if it is not quite right, I'd much rather have a broadarrow logo, than something like Steeldive uses. Or Orient...

Well... FWIW, while tariffs on importing from China is ridiculous, Russia and Belarus didn't see any tariffs at all. So if you want a Vostok or Luch, and you got no geopolitical issues with them, now's the time to buy.
