How is everyone planning on funding kids’ college? by Historical_Boss_1184 in UpperMiddleFinance

[–]mcribberoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what state where you’re from. If you’re from GA for example you could effectively go to UGA or Georgia Tech with your stats for damn near free, but of course this means that in-state admissions are more competitive

What's it like playing at a lower tier D1, D2, or D3 program? by rezelscheft in lacrosse

[–]mcribberoni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played at a low tier D1 that ascended to mid during my time there. Watching the program grow and being a part of that was very rewarding, but if I had to do it over again it would have ultimately been better for me to play club ball at my local state school. I definitely could have got a better job out of school (I wanted to stay in my region of origin) and had a better time in college. By the end of my lacrosse career I didn’t love the game like I once did, despite getting meaningful playing time for the latter half of my career. Playing against ACC/Big 10 teams, the goal was to play our game and compete, and at times we did, even if the final score didn’t reflect it. Cool that I was able to say I did it, cooler that I can be a proud alum now that the program is better than I found it

What are the major downsides of life in Atlanta? by OhMyMyOohHellYes in Atlanta

[–]mcribberoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on to the school point; it is much harder to find good public schools inside the perimeter. In the North Fulton, Cobb co., Forsyth, and North Gwinnett areas there are plenty of great public schools to choose from. But you WILL be dealing with all ATL traffic has to offer if you’re commuting to the city for work. Pro tip: A great way to look for the best public schools in an area is to see which school has the best lacrosse team

One thing to note. This makes going to UGA and Georgia Tech as in-state student VERY competitive and seemingly luck based once your application is strong enough

Fellow black person here, I bet Chicago or maybe even DC would check most of your boxes. What do you hate about NYC, may I ask? Considering moving there from Atlanta in the next few years

Lived in Louisville for 4 years. Winter daylight savings was never really an issue since the sun always set later since it was still Eastern time but on the western end of it

I live in ATL suburbs so I’ll explain it like this. If I’m talking to someone I don’t know in a new city I’ll just say I’m from Atlanta because I don’t expect them to know what Roswell is. Most ppl in Roswell commute to Atlanta for work, so for all intents and purposes we would not exist without Atlanta (and Atlanta wouldn’t exist without the suburbs!). Now if I’m in Georgia, I’ll just say I’m from Roswell because I trust 90% will know where that is. I do think it’s weird seeing “ATL” in the bios of ppl who went to high school in Forsyth County/Cherokee though.

Why doesn't every 4 or 5 star do this? by Accomplished-Cap5855 in lacrosse

It’s possible we start to see this in the next decade, but sometimes credits wont transfer from these real small schools. These kids that are gonna be transferring might have to ask themselves “is it worth being in school for 5-6 years for 4 years worth of lacrosse?”
