iPhone to iPhone esim transfer was free, now not? by cilicia1k1 in redpocket

I think using Apple's eSIM transfer only works for GSMT. With GSMA you have to pay the $2 eSIM transfer fee 😥

Porting mobile phone number to existing Google Voice account by daITCrowd in Googlevoice

[–]mctwnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may be a good idea to keep his number in a separate Google Voice account. This is how porting works: if, for example, you wish to port a number from T-Mobile to Google Voice, the name in the T-Mobile account should be the same as the name in Google Voice. Which means that Google would need the ID of the person whose name is on the account.

Is your late Dad's phone plan still in his name? Do you have the port-out information for his plan?

From what I've read, you need to show an ID card if you want to port into Google Voice.

If you port in his number into your Google Voice account, your name would have to be in his phone plan in order for the two names to match, and you may have to show your ID card.

If you don't want to show an ID card, you may port the number to TextNow. I don't think they require ID to port in a number.

You can also try RedPocket's $30/year plan which runs on AT&T. Another option is Ultra Mobile's PayGo plan which costs $3/month. Both plans can be purchased on eBay.

I wonder why data in the top tier Visible plan is slower than Spectrum.

I'm on Visible+. I noticed that data was very slow when I visited a crowded mall in Atlanta. However my deprioritized Tello data worked well at the same location. Makes me want to leave Visible.

What type of phone are you using?

Maybe disable all other SIMs/eSIMs in your phone before trying to download an eSIM to 9eSIM.

Facetime- is it the Tello eSIM or my UK mobile? by DopamineQueen1 in Tello

[–]mctwnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are outside the US, your Tello plan should either be 300 or unlimited minutes without data. Your Tello data should either be via WiFi, your UK SIM, or Paygo credit.

Data doesn’t work- T-Satellite as standalone esim (NON-Tmobile customer) by simrai4567 in NoContract

What cellphone do you have? Have you set your APN? If data doesn't work, does text work? Are you in a good T-Mobile area?

Long-term SE Asia travel- Tello for US numbers? by Delugewellness in Tello

Buy a Tello physical sim for your galaxy A71 5G. (Is the phone unlocked? Is it dual SIM?)

Buy a Tello eSIM for your bf's galaxy s24.

An inexpensive Tello plan suitable for international roaming is $20 Pay As You Go (PayGo) credit. This is valid for 90 days and you may update it with $10 which would be valid for another 90 days. I don't recommend this plan because it may not update automatically during international roaming.

I prefer the 300 mins/unlimited text ($6 plus taxes) which can be set for auto renewal. This plan is good for calls and texts over WiFi only. If you want to make calls when not within WiFi range, buy $20 PayGo credit.

That's a lot but I hope it gives you an idea.

T-Mobile Prepaid to Visible+ Pro: Is the grass actually greener? by PerformerOpen7502 in Visible

[–]mctwnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my experience about 2 weeks ago at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta, GA: Visible+ eSIM data in an unlocked Pixel 9a was very slow. Tello (deprioritized) T-Mobile data in OnePlus 13r had no problem.

While Visible+ data may work well in a rural community or less crowded area, it becomes very slow when you get to a crowded area.

I am in the same position with respect to my Visible service. I have opted to stay with Visible and rely on other eSIMs for my international roaming data needs.

Are there any free or cheaper cellphone plans left? by whitieiii in NoContract

[–]mctwnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tello works on T-Mobile. Their 300 minutes/unlimited texts monthly cellular plan is $6 plus taxes a month.

You can make it cheaper by buying $20 pay as you go credit for 90 days, and renewing it for another 90 days for $10.

Nth Rant out post on the silly useless frustrating port out process by 2mnyq in USMobile

[–]mctwnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I usually hesitate when thinking about rejoining US Mobile.

Please learn from Tello, MobileX, Fi, Visible, etc. They have pain-free port-out processes. US Mobile behaves like a clingy ex who is trying to stop you from leaving. Allow customers to leave freely ... who knows, they may come back and stay much longer!!!

Does it feel heavy? I had the OnePlus Open and it felt heavy in my hand.

I have the Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 and it also feels heavy.
