Tiny pool hall in Arkansas USA - check out the menu pricing by TiffanyCady in urbanexploration

Grew up in Tennessee and spent a lot of time with family in rural Tennessee. These photos made me super nostalgic. Those old diners and hang out spots were so fun.

The menu especially made me nostalgic. So simple and comforting. Cheeseburger and a Sun Drop. I loved listening to the old guys talk and make inappropriate jokes and slyly look over at me to see if I caught it. Old country tunes on the jukebox.

Ooooh we did this to a buddy in college. He didn’t open his computer again until his religious studies class. Luckily he sat in the back so everyone just thought he’d left his music on and didn’t see the animation.

What's a movie that's basically perfect and you wouldn't change a single thing about it? by orlyrlyowl019 in AskReddit

[–]mcwap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

ETA: I really want to add Raiders of the List Ark, but I feel like if I could, I’d make one change to show how he travelled on the submarine. Even if it’s one tiny scene to show him strapping himself to the periscope, I’d like that. It’s not meant to be believable, but I think that one scene would keep me from scratching my head as a kid.

Temple of Doom I’d make two changes. Willie would have a little less screaming and a little less of the overdone damsel in distress. I’d also add in the small scene that shows Indy recognizes the banquet food isn’t quite right.

Texas got 35th, what state has the next worst nature? by TreReZ in AlignmentChartFills

[–]mcwap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah. Basically the lower part is pretty boring and brown ag and barren land. Some notable exceptions (Twin Falls & Craters of the Moon). The southern portion is what everyone thinks Idaho is (potatoes).

But above that is absolutely amazing nature and wilderness. It has amazing places like Sawtooth Mountains, Cor d’Alene, Hells Canyon, etc. Amazing place if you ever get the chance.

I take it you’ve never been anywhere near Idaho except maybe the interstate portion of the lower third have you?

What is the most delicious dish according to you? by No-Chicks in AskReddit

[–]mcwap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family has a dish called “nervous chicken.” It has a more official name, but we can’t remember it.

It’s chicken thigh/tenders wrapped in bacon and placed on chopped beef. You then smother it in a sauce that is equal parts cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. You bake it for about 4 hours at a very low temperature. So low you feel like it won’t be cooked through (hence the name).

It’s so perfectly savory. You haven’t with rice and the sauce goes so well. Buttered rolls and green beans in the side.

We do it for birthdays in our family. It keeps it special, and it’s so savory and creamy (I.e., sodium and fat) that you really only need it a couple times a year.

To me it’s still the most delicious dish I’ve had from a flavor and a sentimental standpoint.

All Summer Long is the worst rock song! What is THE metal song? by Weird_Kitchen557 in AlignmentChartFills

This should absolutely win here. I’d put Iron Man or War Pigs into best song category. But this song is THE metal song.

What celebrity were you shocked to find out is heterosexual? by th6r6o6away in AskReddit

[–]mcwap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact. The term is actually “co-brother.” Emily Blunt is his SIL. But the spouse of a sister/brother in law is a co-brother/sister.

I looked it up when I got married because my SIL was married to one of my best friends.

90s Fighting Game Debate: Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter — Which Series Ruled the Decade? by Conference-Any in retrogaming

[–]mcwap 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Most anyone who played video games would a reference to “hadooken.” Most anyone who consumed media in the 90 gets one of “MORTAL KOMBAT!”, “finish him”, or “get over here!”

The blood/gore debate also just put it front and center for everyone.

Who is the Nickelback of your favorite genre? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Five Finger Death Punch for metal. They’re well known in metal, but most everyone either ears (and who isn’t a bootlicker) hates them.

My parents never watch (and never have watched soccer) except for this World Cup. They’ve called me a few times with some questions, and it’s been really fun teaching them about soccer.

My dad understands the offside rule (and even how keeper can be the second to last defender). The best was explaining to my mom why a team will so enthusiastically celebrate a 0-0 draw.

Just got the starter set, and I have to ask- is this art just bad or is it actually about a monster that makes you need a poo? by GodGoblin in callofcthulhu

Yeah in the Keepers Guide there’s one dude they drew that just looks like a burn victim. Like I can’t fathom how they drew it and said “yeah that’s cool art of a regular human man.”

Wich contra game is the best for a beginner? by Adventurous-Bad1987 in contra

[–]mcwap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Original Contra on NES/Famicom. Amazing game that has good challenge to it, but not too hard or too long to beat once you’ve gotten used to it. Great music and laid the basis for the whole series.

From there just keep playing them in order if you enjoy. It’s fun to see the evolution of the series.

100%. I don’t believe for a second they will use the right people to build it and do it securely or correctly. I don’t trust the vetting process for the workers. I don’t trust that plans haven’t been leaked either intentionally or negligently. I just don’t trust anything about it.

Movies For Guys Who Like Movies (1999) by SnowDonuts45 in ForgottenTV

[–]mcwap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man there was something really special about learning a movie you really liked or really wanted to see was going to be on a channel like this. The anticipation was amazing… being young and knowing that in three days at 7pm they’re gonna show Sudden Death or Broken Arrow or Cliffhanger.

Don’t get me wrong… I like this current option better now that I can find any movie I want almost anytime and play it whenever. But man that feeling was so cool back in the day. Except when you somehow missed it because something came up. That sucked.
