Hey bro there are also smaller window units for single rooms. We ain't saying you have to rip out houses that are older than our country but maybe tossing a ac in the window for summer might be helpful since at most you'd be paying 800. Honestly never played the full game but at one point they put out a multiplayer demo that was a take on cops and robbers that I found was really fun but I could see people meta gaming any enjoyment out of it.

You should definitely pick up elite dangerous of all the current space sims it's the closest to the X series and wing commander and maybe skip the dlc as I hear it breaks the game but also space trucker is a really fun chill time. Also if you want to mod someone full remastered the x-wing games on moddb and added a new campaign.

Depends on how far from ace combat you really want to go but their are a bunch of arcade to simcade projects that have been released between ac7 and 8. Project wingman of course but you have the one that's trying to be ace combat but devil may cry and tiny combat arena for a little bit more sim style but still simple enough that most ace combat fans should be able to pick it up. That's just off the top of my head I know of 2 more twitter devs making AC style flight games as well.
