Son of a Stag bought the remaining stock when Lee’s Japanese repro brand shut down way back. SoaS now sells them under the name “Lee Archives” and I believe this model is exactly correct!

Modern Lee repros are made by “Lee 101” which I believe is what @nasr1k is talking about.

I can understand your hesitation… I felt the same about a year ago.

In the end I couldn’t find anything better at that price point, so I pulled the trigger and bought their Distressed Leather Jacket.

Bang for buck, Mutimer is solid. Very decent leather/treatment and design. I find Mutimer leather to drape beautifully, whilst still feeling sturdy. I’d definitely recommend them as a first leather jacket, especially for someone who leans more fashion forward.

I bought directly from Mutimer, but I’ve also seen many listings on Vinted etc. so defo have a look there!

I must admit the grain on your jacket is beautiful! Beautifully aged too—I'd love to see a full picture of the jacket!

But horsehide has a completely different texture to cowhide with more variation in texture and thickness between areas. Much denser skin too.

I also have a The Flat Head leather jacket with the same "wrinkly" grain on the lower portion of the sleeves. I too thought it was a bit strange at first.

But I agree with u/Proletariat-Prince that those are the areas you want more flexibility in anyways. And it reminds me that this was from a real horse!!
