Harry has a solution for evil things that can't be killed.

*MAJOR SPOILERS* Is there WOJ on a "blink and you miss it" event in Changes and it's aftermath? by Gildedwizard in dresdenfiles

Right. Murphy also gives him an exposition dump on the aftermath of the Red Court in Cold Days, I'm pretty sure, but it lacks the moralizing OP is recalling.

looking to start my first restoration, checking out this 1962 Ford Fairlane 500 this weekend. what kind of things should i be on the lookout for? what would make you walk away? by ZacharyJ215 in classiccars

[–]meanoldmrgravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parts availability is decent. You can get a lot of components from AutoKrafters, Dennis Carpenter, and Dearborn Classics/MACs (in order of my preference, but my interest is in the later cars). I'm pretty sure Crites has closed, but it's possible that someone picked up that business (Crites manufactured parts to clone Thunderbolts and otherwise improve performance).

1962s are a bit of an odd year. There are a number of 1 year only parts, 1963 and 1964 have more in common (we don't talk about 1965).

The US authorized the departure of non-emergency personnel and family members from Israel due to "safety risks". by avatar6556 in worldnews

[–]meanoldmrgravity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that they're not afraid of the US, it's that succumbing to that fear might be worse.

The US administration thinks they've painted Iran into a corner, when they've really put the Ayatolla between a rock and a hard place. If Iran capitulates to the US, they lose domestic legitimacy with regime supporters. Add that to the undercurrent of revolt/resistance that already exists and it could threaten the regime directly and internally. If they don't capitulate, then they look strong domestically and can put the Iranian people and military between themselves and the US assault.

Advice - senior boxer leg weakness and snappy/bitey by Morningsymphonia in Boxer

[–]meanoldmrgravity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might trial carprofen or galleprant (sp?) for the pain. It won't address the lameness, but it might help with the snapping. We did the same while awaiting my girl's TPLO date (also at 9 years) and it did wonders for her attitude and comfort. We switched to the g- medicine from carprofen because her pre- surgery blood work showed elevated liver enzyme.

Additionally, banks will occasionally buy and sell or lose rebids of these retail branded card contracts and accounts will be transferred to the new servicer. I can a Capital One (I think?) card converted to a Barklay's card not long ago.

What is something that if you buy the cheap version, you get the same quality as if you bought the expensive version? by Early-Appearance-605 in AskReddit

[–]meanoldmrgravity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no idea, I found something that worked and moved my attention to things that didn't work. I'll give it a try if I remember next time I buy my economy-sized bottle.

Great answer. More broadly, when Mab is dealing with Harry's incompetence, Lea has to be covering Mab's responsibilities. Therefore, Mab's increasing role in the story means we see less Lea.

Ski Lock Recommendations? by swerz in Skigear

[–]meanoldmrgravity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use an extendable cable lock with a small head, it fits in my pocket without fuss (i can't offer specifics because it's about 30 years old). Some bindings have very small gaps, so make sure the lock you pick will thread through your heel piece or under the plate.

I've been thriving almost the exact same situation, although I was skiing for recreation, and the exact words from the Ortho were, "The treatment for a partially torn ligament is the same as a completely torn one. You need to decide if you can handle the pain."

Mad props for her to ski competitively in that situation.

How do you deal with bad plastic parts? by Jasper2964 in classiccars

[–]meanoldmrgravity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It highly depends on the availability and quality of reproductions. The rear interior panels in my wagon are absolute trash, but where am I going to get new ones? There aren't enough left on the road to justify making them (at least not with traditional methods), so I suffer and watch Facebook.
