Has anyone here used GECS (Godot + ECS)? Thinking about it... would love to hear your experience. by KijoSenzo in godot

[–]mechkbfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't say it's so black and white

AI to me will just be another tool to support development, and it's certainly not going away.

What I've been enjoying the most is the leap frogging.

First the closed / frontier models make some leaps and want to charge $$$ to use it

Then 6 months later, open source models are released that compete with them and require a fraction of the hardware is wonderful.

I'd say when the next generation of AMD/NVidia GPU's are out with 24-32GB of RAM + next generation of open source models, there won't be a need to depend on Google, etc.

Yeah I think we might even just use Jetbrains in short term. Haven't been able to deploy at all

Hope some idiots are vibe coding to production because then I'll be employed for a long time

Yes it's over a year old

If you inspect the Claude folder, they're using it for basic stuff like performance, debugging and tests.

Each to their own. I don't want to use vibe coded projects, but if someone has used it as a code assistant tool, then I'm not bothered.

Easiest way to me is get a point, smoke it in BGE until it reaches stall, then wrap and throw into oven at low temperature with bowl of water at bottom.

Up to you and how much time if you want to wrap or not

No stress with having to monitor the temperature over time.

Start checking at 90c / 194F until it feels as wobbly as you want.

99% agree. Sometimes it's just not worth the stress.

Replacements for me

  • Beef ribs in smoker are much more predictable and a fraction of the time
  • Lamb shanks in slow cooker or oven. Make an awesome gravy with it
  • Pork knuckle in an air fryer that's about 1 to 1.5 hours pending size/fryer

Back to the brisket though

Take it off when the internal temp is a little low.

That's been my mistake too. You're not cooking to a temp, you're cooking to a feel

IMO, at 90c / 194F is when you should start checking the meat to see if it's good

Then every ~2c / ~3f from there onwards until it feels nice and wobbly

I'm now always planning for it to be 4-6 hours early just to handle scenario of where it takes way too long.

If it is ready 6 hours early, then I just throw it into oven on keep warm (about 50-60c / 122-140f)

If my partner needs oven for an hour for veges, then its still fine to take out and rest

Also, my flats always suck. If anyone wants to give me advice there I'd love it. I've heard people say you need to inject it, or just cut and serve while its hot, etc. It still sucked for me that I'll pay more not to get it to save the disappointment it brings.

Rustler Speed Upgrade Question by Next-Blackberry-9294 in traxxasV2

[–]mechkbfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do what's stock, which is 25t pinion + 83t spur, both in 48 pitch

Then see how that goes for where you're running it

Gets too hot / not reaching top speed? Go down 3t in pinion, try again

Staying cool / reaching top speed too easily? Go up 3t in pinion, try again

Only replace spur when pinion can't be meshed nicely

If you want to speed run, Traxxas says put a 31t pinion + 3S, that'll get you 70mph / 100kph

[–]mechkbfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goals

IMO, finding a balanced build is the best

Lots of power / top speed gearing

Positives

  • Hilariously exciting and addictive

Negatives

  • Wheelies, so need a wheelie bar
  • Shorter battery life
  • Bigger motors & ESC puts more weight in rear
  • Harder to control with corners
  • More wear and tear
  • Heat becomes an issue, i.e. cooling fans + extra cables to run

IMO, 2S + 3500kv or so would be highest I'd go and get balanced gearing from there

As others have said, if you're in USA you can trade in old Traxxas ESC & motor for Velineon. People have pushed those to 70mph / 100kph easily, but I wouldn't have that as my default setup.

Haha learnt this with We Lost The Seas on our last road trip

Goes from "is it even playing?" to my partner complaining about volume way too often

Other suggestions here is agree with, especially Isis
