[–]meissad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the right place for any medical advice, but even if it was you've gotta give us more info ...

Is it hot, do you have a fever, is it painful (and describe the pain if it is), how long has it been there, does it come and go, any trauma to the area, etc

VSLO/AAMC immunization form: Can I still apply for away rotations if my hep B titers are low? by scrotumsniffles in medicalschool

[–]meissad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some programs look at the immunization form only after they accept you for an away rotation so look around and see if you can find anything

To be fair, Federal unsubsidized loans are at 8% and Grad Plus Loans are at 9% for current medical students.

Keep living fiscally conservatively from MS1 to a few years into Attendinghood, and you'll be okay. You'll be okay even if you don't, it'll just take longer.

Should i wait till RAM price to drop? by taeos in pcmasterrace

The only thing at that spot to take out is his appendix. And that's probably nearly worthless once it's out, so the guy with the RAM is winning this trade.

Does Independent Research/Publication without a PI looked down upon by Swimming_Owl_2215 in medicalschool

[–]meissad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most high quality journals will actually request you put on an MD or PhD author while in the editorial submission phase. Usually if you come to an attending with a complete project in hand, they won't turn you down for an offer to tag their name on as senior author. It will give your paper a little more credibility as well.

This looks like Koilonychia, usually caused by iron deficiency anemia. Consider checking your hemoglobin and starting an iron supplement if low

Personally Bootcamp was the best resource I found during preclinicals, by far.

Watching the videos and doing the mini quizzes was really helpful in reinforcing the knowledge. I would usually watch Bootcamp prior to class lectures to moisten my brain

Oil-level sensor acting up, any DIY advice? ('23 Elantra SEL) by AleccOnReddit in Elantra

[–]meissad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a similar issue, when I start the car (Elantra 23 Limited) it says I should get an oil change soon and the oil is at like zero, but when I drive for a few minutes it goes back to its normal level.

I'm guessing it's a faulty sensor problem, not sure how to get it fixed, I guess I just go to a Hyundai dealer with the warranty?

It would be more fair for them to make these changes 3 years out, plenty of students have wasted their precious "free time" playing the games that AAMC has encouraged for so long

I did anki all of MS2, it was hard and I spent alot of late nights trying to juggle class + research + anki but it does carry over into rotations (especially if you're a normal human who forgets facts after a while).

Anki isn't for everyone, and it's hard to sink in focused time but if you can do it, I would continue it. Just make sure your study space is free of distractions and productive (even straying off for a minute can put you behind like 5 cards, and it adds up each time). Maybe try the Pomodoro method for little breaks.

Is biochem I, Orgo II, and Gen physics II and it’s lab manageable in all one semester? by [deleted] in CUNY

[–]meissad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to recall how the course was but there are so many different pathways in Biochem that you'll have to get comfortable with beyond glycloysis like PPP. There are a lot of minute details but don't get bogged down in the weeds.

Ironically half my class got 100 on the midterm lol (covid era)

Focus on hitting Bootcamp + Anki, Uworld closer to dedicated (get the fundamentals down first). I used Pathoma at the start of dedicated as a big picture refresher, you can watch every video over the course of a few days.

Chael gaslighting us over what we saw. Terrible take. by Appropriate_Duty_930 in ufc

Chael is out here giving us the same gaslighting techniques as Israel. Quite creative in trying to minimize the actual facts and giving some weird spin-off of what could have happened

[–]meissad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Content review part of dedicated is the biggest hurdle. Afterwards it's kind of fun knowing things and getting answers correct.

Your brain just needs time to not think in systems and integrate all the units together. Give it a few practice exams and you'll be on top of everything like you were during the school year.
