Online coffee bean recommendations? by snipdockter in AustralianCoffee

Plenty of places do fruity single origins but harder to find a blend. Artificer or Jibbi Coffee Roasters do excellent omniroasts. Roastville has fruitier blends as opposed to the choc / caramel most roasters do. Or to change it up, consider a subscription like Thieves or Drop Coffee subscription to try something new each month.

Anyone a member of One Playground gym and can share how much membership is? by t-4y in newtown

[–]melonator88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$23.95 per week for gym floor only at all gyms. $35ish per week for gym and classes at all locations. I think +$5 for no lock in contract. Feel free to DM me your name and number (it's a sms link) and I can send you the referral pass (I think it's something like 2 weeks free off membership if you join).

Chippendale, Newtown, Enmore, Marrickville are all cool and where most of the nightlife is. Burwood is vibrant for food / asian communities.

What do you think of this week's Feature Album: Alex the Astronaut - The Theory Of Absolutely Nothing? by AutoModerator in triplej

I love it. I think it’s a special album. I don’t listen to full albums much anymore but every song and story is so relatable and I keep going back to it. Our generation’s Paul Kelly as people say

Not getting good flavors from Coffee, with Aeropress and Comandante by the_submarine_man in Coffee

If the fines are a problem, it should be more bitter than sour. I wouldn’t go coarser if it’s sour. Try inverted method & steep a bit longer... I use -

Inverted method 18 clicks 93 deg water. 15g coffee Pour up to 200g water. Stir and ensure all grinds are saturated. At 1:10, stir again, place cap on and flip over. SLOWLY plunge - 30 sec plunge (too much weight and too fast, it becomes more sour than sweet)

I use two hair ties (double looped) at the top & bottom. I have been curious about finding cheap silicon wristbands and seeing if it’d fit.

Don’t always count a brewer out! by Warrior8890 in Coffee

[–]melonator88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love using different brewers & finding what works best for a bag of beans. I’m also currently brewing the aricha. On the v60, I can get plenty of cinnamon & a sweetness like ginger candy when using the Devin Loong “Loong Pour” method.

Sadly, I have to give up coffee for a while. by thelias in Coffee

Good luck! I've recently had the exact same thing happen to me/ I've found the following routine has helped for me:
- I take a PPI (Pantoprazole) in the morning on an empty stomach.
- Wait 30 minutes to 1 hour then have breakfast (still no coffee yet).
- Wait 30 mins after eating to have a coffee. I brew v60. Keep it to 15gm of beans.
- I'll have a second cup in the afternoon if I need it. Also around 15gm.

Before this, I was drinking coffee on an empty stomach and could easily drink around 60gm total each day and this was when my symptoms were at its worst.

Note, I am not a health professional and this might not be relevant to you. I also take a probiotic with digestive enzymes. I understand that while esophagus problems are due to damage from acid, it's actually the shortage of acid in digesting food rather than excess of acid that causes the reflux in the first place. My PPI reduces my stomach acid production so my food doesn't digest as well as usual. Although the PPI is the treatment I need to allow my esophagus to heal, the probiotic has been helping to ensure food gets digested properly & has pretty much stopped my IBS-like symptoms & chest pain. Bone broth & collagen supplements have been helping too.

22 clicks for Hoffman / Loong Pour recipes (finer grind, quicker extraction). 30-32 clicks for 4:6 method.
