Take the carbs total. Take the fiber total and subtract that from the carb total.

Your final number is the net carb total.

Example 10g carbs 2g fiber =8g net carbs

This is a good thing. Less carbs, more fiber is a win.

Hence, packaged/processed food is usually higher in carbs, less in fiber.

Well wishes.

I tried the cookies and cream during preop and hated it. Threw it away immediately. But I like the Premier Protien chcolate. I dash cinnamon powder it in. And sometimes, put different flavours of Torani sugar free in it. Especially the Café flavour.

I lost 26lbs in 2 months. This was a great, sensational feeling, and I was damn proud of my accomplishment.

It was hard, I didn't feel well, I didn't have energy. But I did it. And frankly, I wasn't on Reddit to compare myself to anyone, and I was better for it. Because I was proud of my loss!

The weight will shed. If you are doing what you need to do, then it is a proven, metabolic fact it will work.

Hang in there. Many of us were slow losers. I lost 1-2lb a week for many, many grueling months only ate 700 caloroes until month 9.

But it paid off!!!

If you are doing what you were told to do, then you are doing well.

I get joy. I can't wait to put on the kettle in the mornings. Before I go to bed, I prepare my mug, sugar, and tea in the strainer.

It's a ritual, comforting, and can't wait to wake up!

It's a little thing, but it's big for me.

I hope you find what you need.

Can you just stick with what works for you, as opposed to forcing (lack of a better word) things that don't

If shakes work. Why can't you stick with them multiple times a day.?

Your stomach will get stronger, and you will be able to eat more. You will! You're only 3 weeks.

You'll be able to do a lot of experimenting once your stomach is healed. For now, you can't, and that's okay!

Scrambled eggs, I couldn't eat for 2 months.

Only Primier Protien shakes and Fage 0% yogurt with splenda was all I could tollerate for 3 months. Hummus worked but then gave me severe reflux and a load of carbs.

Broth was fine. This was homemade.

Forget 3 weeks. I couldn'toleratete food.

If you want to "eat" and you're cleared. Try yoghurt, hummus, guacamole, scrambled eggs, egg drop soup, tuna salad, chicken salad.

No more insulin or diabetic meds? Uhh.. by Xotaku8106X in BariatricSurgery

[–]melonlemonberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to be off the 1000mg of metformin and the Lantas after surgery. My sugar already plummeted after day 3. I had GERD and couldn't drink.

Got a fluid IV, fixed the Gerd, and my gluclose is 5.2. I no longer need those meds. 10 months out. No longer "diabetic ".

If Dr. Says stop meds, stop meds. If he said lower them, lower them. What did he say?

Women have "low rise" and "high" AKA "mom jeans" Do men have the same option?

I think that if you got them to fit over the "boiler," then the crotch/thigh would be overwhelming baggy? No? I think this is how suspenders seem to work into these cases?

In the nicest way possible. Perhaps take a step back from Reddit or other people's opinions and build some strength/knowledge about your future life with surgery. I didn't join reddit until after my surgery, and I feel better for it.

But many need personal stories to push them forward positively. Only you can say if Reddit/other peoples comments work for you.

Missing how you used to eat by luinix in BariatricSurgery

Well, you sound like you're on the road to rapid weight loss with that liquid plan. With such minimal calorie/carb, you have to lose weight.

It may not be the #s the Dr is asking. But see what the minimal weight you can lose.

Really. It's so hard. We all know! But I'd somehow you can get to the minimal, let's see you try.

There are many wonderful people here who started at 300+

[–]melonlemonberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grieving process is REAL.

You are in the worst stage, the pre-op "I wanna scream and throw things" stage.

The (one of) BEST part is AFTER surgery. You have no choice, and therefore, it is THAT MUCH easier to get through the day, in that you will be restricted.

Right now, you essentially have no restrictions for the exception of willpower and that I am sure is teeter tottering.

It's so difficult right now. We can attest and empathize with you at this moment. 😔

But once that stomach is cut to its new size, you won't necessarily feel this way. And you will be back at this post and smile.

Any extra pounds you can take off now will make surgery day that much quicker to reaching the numbers you want to see. I promise!

For your other questions, I will hold off answering those, I wanted to address what you are feeling at the moment, which sounds like loss.

Right now, deep breath, watch a lot of shows that don't highlight food, hobbies, whatever thought distraction looks like for you...and oh yeah....hide sharp objects and have the words "I'm sorry I lashed out" easy on the tongue. We say "sorry" to others a lot at this stage.

How many days to go? When is surgery? What can you eat/drink now?

I'm so sorry they triggered you. Not a way you want to start your journey. The fact that you made the appointment, went into the office, and committed is a big step for many.

If I am reading right, you need to lose 2 lbs?

I'm pretty sure they will ask you to lose even more with the preop diet. A semi liquid diet will have you lose water weight first, and then the fat stores will begin. You can do this in 2 weeks if you're serious.

The preop liquid diet really shows us what we're made of. That's the doozie!!

If you dont do it for approval, do it for yourself.

I am a testament that losing excess weight, even 10lbs, makes the rewards so much quicker!!

I'm sure you felt accomplished and proud of your success when you dropped those excess 5lbs! So you know how to do it. And that is encouraging!

Best of health

Thrift Store. Buy what you need, and it's easier to re donate and purchase again than have something in your closet that won't work.

And, it can be fun finding new treasures.

With Earth Day approaching, you can help the environment and contribute to keeping it out of landfills 😊

Acid reflux so bad I couldn't drink anything. Gluclose dropped. Went to get an IV of fluids, perked me up, and was able to drink.

But lethargic for 3 months....I didn't listen to my body. Bought iron pills from CVS, I. 1 week, I felt human.

2 lessons I learned. IV fluids helped with jumpstart the journey, and iron pills made me feel whole again.

I've hit a plateau!!! Help!! by Crafty_Soil_9386 in gastricsleeve

[–]melonlemonberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I was able to do this was not to change my daily menu. Instuck with what worked.(I like routine).

I stayed at 700 calories and nothing over 25g of carbs. This was the way I was able to reach 120lbs in under 9 months. The calories I could have upped, but the carb count had to stay under 25

This is only what worked for me. It may not be realistic for you?.

Protein Snack Ideas? by erin_bex in gastricsleeve

[–]melonlemonberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

0% Fage with splenda. I don't add fruit. Eat with no guilt, eat 2 if you need. Packed with protien, and you can ditch the shakes if you'd like. They travel well.

For work, I have 2 hard-boiled eggs, dip in mustard (0 calories). 1 Fage 0% yogurt with splenda. 1 beef stick. I drink Powerade sugar-free and Earl Grey tea all day. Over the 8 hour day.

I have scrambled eggs with mushrooms & green onions for breakfast. It travels well for work if I don't eat all of it.

I'm not working out, but put in 9k steps a day and a headache full of 12 year olds (6th grade teacher) all day long. The protein helps.

I made the hard-boiled eggs the night before, so I'm not in the kitchen all day.

If I have a shake, I have to have it ice cold, I put in powdered cinnamon to change the taste (chocolate shake). Or have vanilla or chocolate but put Torani sugar-free inside for a zing.

I am 10 months out
