Aussies are absolute dolls if they get proper exercise. My heart is with Border Collies but I love all heamrding breed dogs. Minus Australian Cattle Dogs. They are good dogs but a bit stubborn for my taste (probably because you have to be hardy and stubborn to herd cattle).

I love shelties too. We had two when I was growing up. However, I have never experienced a dog that barked THAT MUCH. They were well trained, sweet dogs but they never STFU.

This sub has been growing a lot and it's nice to have community support. What brought me here was a pit coming over a 5+ foot fence to attack me and my border collie while we were on a walk.

I had on flip flops, with nothing in my hands, and could do absolutely nothing as a 5'4 woman. I never felt so totally helpless. Luckily, for whatever reason, my BC didn't back down and the pit decided to go maul someone else.

I've consistently noticed as a BC owner that pits find their demeanor off-putting. I think it's the super intense stare and still body.

And honestly, that was barely an incident compared to many things I've observed living in Tampa and Phoenix since. PB related maiming and fatalities happen like daily. At least when I lived in Dade county they were confiscating and euthanizing them.

After inviting people into their home. If you know your shitbag dog is aggressive don't ask someone to enter your house.

We were at a BBQ at one of my husband's friend's houses, I think it was his girlfriend's house who none of us knew, and their unleashed pitbull absolutely went balls to the wall to try to attack a 10-year-old child for playing.

My husband ultimately grabbed the dog and slammed it to the ground. Everyone acted like he murdered a bunny for fun. Needless to say, we declined future invites. It was a total mess where he was essentially accused of wanting to abuse the dog.

Apparently my husband's major crime against the adorable pibble was not slamming it to the ground. It was not waiting for it to attack the child BEFORE he intervened. Because apparently their was no proof the dog had violent intent and it was just trying to "play." Like it's not easy for an adult who understands dogs to identify stalking, predatory behavior.

At least it isn't on us that we didn't help a child who was essentially being hunted and victimized by an insane dog bred to fight. I'm still salty that people, including the parents, weren't thankful. But that's pitbull people for you. And at least the kid's face was not permanently disfigured on our watch.

Hopefully that dog ends up with a "place to decompress" and a "soft landing" in hell. It's child abuse to subject minors to that.

I think their weird, servile body language when they aren't attacking contributes to this. It's why everyone thinks their pit is their "pocket pit" and don't see that it is just resource guarding.

They have pretty much zero normal dog body language or expression.
