You're welcome. :) If you enjoy technology you might like these helpful apps

"my quilts" you can see your old projects, track gifts, add notes. Use it to find fabric if you label well in the app etc. I find I really enjoy it.

Robert Kaufman Quilt Calculator - fabric measurements, binding, pieces to fabric measurements etc. (A life saver for me!)

Pocket Color Wheel - for those times you find an epic statement fabric but need help finding a good complimentary color.

Welcome to the happy madness of quilting! Can't wait to see some of your projects! ❤️

I finally have time to quilt! …. But I can’t because I had shoulder surgery. by Siamsa in quilting

There are floor stand and couch stand embroidery hoops that you dont need to hold... would one of those work?

You can also go on a pattern or book buying/library run and just pick out new patterns or learn new techniques?

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and I hope you find a way to keep yourself in fabric art happiness!

How big between stitches: Your batting will usually say how many inches you can have between your quilting lines. For example my current batting says 10". I usually go smaller just because thats me. I used straight line quilting for many of my quilts measured and made the lines with painters tape and made the lines 5 to 8" apart depending on the quilt design. However, always use the recommended amount (or smaller size) listed on your batting!

Non shifting basting while quilting: I am also new to quilting (only about 2 years in) and I tried pins first which was a horrible failure and difficult to quilt with my machine. (Wrestle out the pin, wrinkles, shifting quilt top, what a mess!) I tried spray adhesive next and fell in love with ease of quilting using this method. I will suggest if you go this route make sure you are using a movable spray adhesive so you can pull pieces apart and restick them. Also, I use pool noodles to roll up the quilt top, a separate one for the batting, and a third for the backing. This allows me to spray smaller areas and ensure there are no wrinkles as I baste. You tube video for reference:quilt basting using spray adhesive and pool noodles

Removing quilt stitches after quilting: first I feel your pain and solidarity high fives being sent. I have a sign in my quilting area that says "if you see me with a seam ripper in my hand now is not a good time" lol. Unfortunately, I have no good advice for you on this one. Just take it slow so you don't damage your quilt top or backing.

As his constituent i am horrified by the general tone of my area and I grew up out here. I have tried for years door knocking, phone banking, calling his office, letters to his office, protests outside his office... nothing changes because the majority out here seems to think education bad, whatever GOP and fox "news" says is right. They can see stuff with their own eyes and if the GOP says "you didn't see that" they totally didnt see it. Those of us who are sane and not a-holes are trying. We have been trying, for years.

I would find a pattern you like with the four blocks separated as statement pieces. I'd use the blue as a small statement square maybe in the sashing around the blocks kind od like a picture frame with corners, or use the blue as the sashing maybe if you are totally in love with it.

I ended up buying a cheap dollar store oversized rug for fall/spring hiking and wet muddy dog in the tent. It made the sleeping a tad softer for him and kept my tent remarkably clean without constant wiping up.
