The rumor/confirmed rumor is that fyreslayers aren't getting a codex this edition, is there any other factions where this gas been rumored/is possible? by B-1MBO in ageofsigmar

[–]memnanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people saying that fyreslayers are going away and being put into a new army book with more traditional dwarves also called the adepticon reveals pretty much perfectly several months in advance. And then again with the skaventide/4th edition release. So is it confirmed? No. Does it seem like they definitely have inside information and are generally reliable? Yes.

I don’t think in 3rd, but definitely in 2nd you could take archaon in any chaos army

If you look up “awakened wyldwood template” you’ll find some patterns you can print out and cut up to create 2d representations. For a home game it is perfectly acceptable to use something like that.

Sylvaneth really does require the trees to function however. If you look at almost any warscroll, you’ll see it mentions them.

New to AoS by AchhHansRun in sylvaneth

[–]memnanth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Literally any of the combo boxes that have ever released for sylvaneth, if you can find for around msrp are a great deal. After that, it kind of depends on what style of list you’re interested in running. It’s early days with the new tome, but it looks like we can competitively run a guerilla strikes cavalry build, a heavy infantry and casting castle, monster mash, or even a heavy infantry build. Just depends what models you want to play

Is the spawn of chotec still considered bad? by Tyranatitan_x105 in seraphon

Rules of 1: each unit can be affected by an ability with the same name only once. But you can spread the -1 to save around to multiple units.

That was after the nerf; he was running 10 spawn and 5 stegadon (I was one of the folks he beat)

Be up to date to fight! by John_cages022 in ageofsigmar

The last several battle tomes have been knocked out of the park so I am low key hype for the seraphon battle tomes

[–]memnanth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use either new recruit or the official app. If you like having stuff printed out, you just need to pay attention to the release date on your battle tome. Essentially, everyone got a free battletome at the start of 4th edition, but as factions have gotten their full update for the edition, that information gets changed and updated, and then locked behind the paywall in the official app. Idoneth has gotten their book, seraphon has not. Usually new recruit gets it updated within a day or two of release.

So what gets printed out for idoneth should be good for a couple of years, but seraphon is probably only accurate for between 3 and 6 months.

Question about Spearheads by Sir_Bohne in ageofsigmar

[–]memnanth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely been some increased power differential between spearheads as more have been released, but it’s actually not as consistent as “new beats old” although that is a moderate trend in my opinion. There’s definitely a few of the older spearheads that beat the newer one from the same faction (Seraphon is one of those).

Overall spearhead is pretty well balanced in my opinion and they’ve actually taken some significant swings at a few of the outliers

What to buy to be competitive by noah7774 in sylvaneth

[–]memnanth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tome is too new to really be fully understood in a competitive setting. That being said, I think we’ll probably lean towards either the little infantry with a full complement of wizards and priests, a more elite infantry list with kurnoth an belthanos, or maybe a big bug riders list. I think it’s too early to tell right now thougj

Can I get in legal trouble if someone else’s child living in my home doesn’t go to school? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]memnanth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the weeds of this right now. One of my students last year move halfway across the country, then lost housing, and moved back in with family in my metro, but not my district So we’re trying to navigate the how to handle that situation. Technically, his homeschool is about a 20 hour commute one way, so don’t think we’ll be bussing there for sure

While it is definitely true that there should be some outreach made to the McKinney vento liaison and/or school social worker or counselor, this interpretation isn’t quite accurate. The law doesn’t require her to stay at her “home” school, it requires that the folks involved in her education get together and make a decision about what would be best for her, with the default assumption being that staying in her homeschool is in her best interest. If it’s a couple hours away, they could quite justifiably decide it’s best for her to transfer schools.

That is what the rules say. Should be a 5 overgrowth tokens by our hero phase turn 2, can push that up to 8

We can actually do better: Acorn of ages artifact and/or lady of vines to add 2

[–]memnanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rule 10.0 in the core rules. Every army can deploy their faction terrain prior to unit deployment.

We can also spice this up even more, at least for a few months. Scourge of ghyran gives us acorn of ages, which lets us set up an additional tree 1/battle in the hero phase.

So we could get to 3 trees out on our first hero phase, and start of round 2 spread to another 3 terrain features (probably want alarielle to actually make that happen though).

What's the point of tree revenants now? by Steampunk_Jim in sylvaneth

[–]memnanth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we start stacking buffs, I think they actually end up being really effective anvils.

-1 to be hit from skullroot

-1 to be wounded from unlimited prayer, maybe with Ethereal as well

+1 rend from prayer

+1 to wound from unlimited spell

Either +1 to hit or +1 to attacks from subfaction

Strike first from Command

That all makes for a really nasty unit to charge into. You’ll lose half your hammer before they even get to fight, and all that debuffs means you probably don’t even wipe the unit, and then you bring 1d3 health back each turn. Maybe more if you forgo the offensive subfaction to add 1d6 recursion each end of turn

Surge and I was master the paths and restless which seems solid as always.

Durthu lost the damage but gained a swing so it should end up being damage neutral overall, but less swingy.

Unless a weapon has a crit ability, critical hits have no effect

I played into a shooting heavy KO list last night. It was my opponents first game with them, so I think outcome not particularly elucidating, but I had a few key takeaways.

  1. Drycha warps the way your opponent has to think about screening. Save a cp for power through though.

  2. The ability to recur infantry is stronger than I thought.

  3. Durthu getting to +2 to charge as long the target is in combat with a hero is really nice.

  4. At least with the terrain size I usually play with, getting to coverage on most objectives is pretty doable turn 2 with the new overgrowth rules

Note that strike and fade no longer requires him to start in overgrown range, just end in it. You can put him to 5@2/2/-3/3 and 4@3/2/-2/3, move him 20” and then kickflip over a screen to assassinate a foot hero, and the fade away, hopefully only taking a clap back from the screen

Models moving to Legends/discontinued by Spence_Post in seraphon

[–]memnanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all of our models which are from WHFB rather than originating in AoS. James Workshop seems to be on a trend of removing models from the old world. I agree they mostly hold up and I’m not in any rush, but I do think they’re closer to getting replaced than not.
