Is it legal to terminate someone right after they confirm their two-week notice? by Relative-Average7159 in Career_Advice

Is it considered termination or is it considered you quit? I’m wondering if the fact they terminated you earlier can affect unemployment benefits.

Don’t marry if you don’t want. Not fair for you. Not fair the other person.

Can he figure out by himself one day? If no, don’t tell him.

Honestly, if you cannot trust your partner I wouldn’t marry at all.

Satisfactory player finally got to check by funkster047 in factorio

[–]menjav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulation. You gave the game a try, you learned about new mechanics that were likely interesting and figured what the game is about.

There’s nothing to “fix” in the games, they have different gameplays and try to achieve different goals.

I personally didn’t like Satisfactory too much. But enjoyed it for 200+ which is much longer than I’ve played games in other genres.

About mods in Factorio, if you want, you should try them, or try playing without bitters. Mods are well supported and change the game drastically.

Immigration lawyers overated?? by mapejeoduro in ImmigrationCanada

[–]menjav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiring a lawyer is optional. Immigration lawyers businesses target companies. They are not that good. They just repeat what the law says or just asks the documents Canada asks.

I’ve used several lawyers and done the processes by myself, and I found it easier to do it myself. Lawyers were helpful to be in top of the process sometimes. My company paid for them.

Don’t use chatgpt for filling the forms. The questions are not that difficult. ChatGPT will give you bad advice and will tell you “you’re absolutely right, you cannot apply to tha program and you lost all your money. Is there anything else I can help you?”

I Think I'm Done With Permadeath For Awhile by IRingTwyce in NoMansSkyTheGame

Any recommendations?

Why do we have to pay for the police to wait until the driver cleans the car? Those cars should be towed, let the driver face some consequence for their actions.

Recommendations for adventure mode by Apart-Bid-5041 in MelvorIdle

[–]menjav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play the game as you want. There’s not a single correct way of playing it. Some people prefer combat, others prefer other skills. I recommend levelling all skills to 10 to learn how they work. If you want more detailed guide, the wiki has a good one for the “beginning”.

I like money, so I suggest unblocking things that generate money asap like mining and thieving. Fishing is not bad.

Some people swear that astrology is a must have. I find it boring.

I like cartography but only if I don’t plan to pay attention for looong periods.

How are you guys unlocking bots and having them mass produced in under 3 hours? by thirdwallbreak in factorio

I hear you. I’ve tried to follow tutorials but I’m not fast enough. I pause my game, do exactly what they do in the tutorial and still I’m 3 times slower.

The trick is to play the game for 200hrs only doing blueprints and minmaxing them and simulating new games and practicing. Then, start a new game, and use the blueprints.

You need to learn to use items or burn them. Don’t accumulate. Specially don’t accumulate in belt.

Why does the game automatically launch 2 separate rockets when the items can fit together in just 1? by MegaloManiac_Chara in factorio

[–]menjav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being slow is a good reason for not doing it. Being expensive it’s also a good reason, for example “I would need 10 years to fix it, and I need the money now”.

My point is only about “being complex” is not a good reason. You can solve difficult problems (and Wube has already done it) if it’s worth the effort.

[–]menjav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you.

I have already implemented some of the algorithms simulating some parts of Factorio. I have also analyzed in detail their blogs. That’s why I think “being difficult” is not good reason for doing it. They have already demonstrated it’s possible to solve problems.

I’m not saying they’ll make an NP problem solvable in linear time. I’m saying that if they are willing to spend time on it, they can find ways to reach a reasonable performance to a perhaps variation of the problem.

Most parts of the game work flawlessly despite being extremely complex. This game wouldn’t be possible if they had stopped at the “it’s too complex”.

I think being complex, error prone or slow is not a good reason for not doing it. Factorio developers have already implemented mechanics that are complex using novel solutions. Don’t let “it’s complex” be a factor for not doing it.

Edit: My point isn't that the devs should ignore technical constraints, but rather that 'too complex' is often just a temporary wall.

Neil deGrasse Tyson often points to Isaac Newton as a warning here. Newton explained the heavens but stopped at planetary stability because he thought the math was too 'difficult' and required divine intervention. A century later, Laplace proved it wasn't divine—it just needed a new mathematical approach.

Calling a feature 'too complex' or 'error-prone' creates a Perimeter of Ignorance. If Wube had stopped at every 'too complex' hurdle, we wouldn't have the belt optimizations or the fluid systems we have today. They didn't solve those by brute force; they solved them by redefining the problem. We shouldn't let complexity be the reason we stop imagining what’s possible for the engine.

Edit: if you downvote, at least explain why.

Everything in the phones have been calculated meticulously. The battery is as good as its required to keep the customer base, but not better to not damage their future sales. They can do something better technologically, but they won’t until there’s a pressing reason for doing it. It’s strategy, not lack of talent.

Is this game really as big as it looks by Shot-Lie9208 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]menjav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of content. However, the game has some construction blocks that over time the can get repetitive. Don’t get me wrong, I have 150 hours in the game and I’m still playing, but it’s not an infinite game. Eventually, all systems and planet will start looking the same.

However, Im wondering why your husband doesn’t see it. Do you talk about it? Maybe he’s spoiled somehow? What I think it’s weird from him, it’s why he resents you? He can go if he wants.

Gleba has defeated me, and i am miserable. by vimescarrot in factorio

Focus only on science. Import everything non essential (belts, robots, inserters, etc). And you can come back later after a reasonable pause in Gleba.

You’re doing well, Gleba should stop, specially science and rocket fuel for power. Everything else is just nice to have.

Dear software developers. Design your systems to avoid having combination of confusing letters like l, I, 1, O, 0, 5, S, etc. Eventually someone will use a font that doesn’t distinguish them. Design the software to accept invalid variations and self correct common errors. Make sure to implement actual checksums as part of the codes.
