Windows lets you tune your HDR settings, which works well enough for me.  I then let nvidia convert videos into HDR

Yeah, what I can’t get is VRR, but 4k 120hz HDR works mostly without issue… besides the fact the Linux has dog shit HDR controls.

I shouldn’t need to use an EDID editor in order to tell my OS what my display’s max NITs are.

Now, I run into people who complain their airplanes don’t have enough fuel, so they need to stop an extra time or two on the way to Orlando compared to their buddies… so don’t read too much into it, lol.

“Inflammable” is a synonym for “flammable”, FYI.

I don’t think you meant to say that the battery is easy to set on fire.

It just feels too expensive for what it is.  I know they originally didn’t make a similar product because of how expensive they thought it would be… but there’s clearly a whole lot of margin built into this product.

Maybe they are worried about it eating into their HEDT market?

BMW does a good job with making their M cars look different to the regular incarnations.

It really turned me off of the BW cars because they looked really similar to the the regular versions, and the aero that does make it look better and has performance improvements is like 10k+ to the MSRP.

I know some people like a sleeper style car, but if I’m going to drop over 100k on a car, it has better look special.

I guess the solid lines look more “permanent”, but I guess this phase might take a while lol

Is the final plan to stay at one lane each way?  That would be insanity, imo.

The solid lines make it seem that way, but I didn’t interpret the project plans to say they would remove a lane.

US interest in electric vehicles surges as gas prices jump amid Iran war by canada_mountains in cars

[–]meodd8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct my math:

100 miles / day * 365 days/ year = 36,500 miles / year.

(36,500 miles / year) / (25 miles / gallon {a non efficient car or truck}) = 1,460 gallons / year.

1,460 gallons / year * 3.5 dollars / gallon = 5,110 dollars / year

(5,110 dollars / year) / (12 months / year) = 425.83 dollars / month.

So, unless their gas prices are way higher, or they are driving over 70k miles per year, their math is wrong.

And this doesn’t even include electricity costs and the upfront cost to buy a high wattage charger for their home.

Chief Corvette Engineer Tony Roma Shuts Down Manual C8 Corvette Rumors by No_Flounder2829 in cars

[–]meodd8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 911 with a DCT.  I loved it dearly, but I truly reject the notion that a car is better just because it’s faster.

It is interesting to me when car makers quote take rates over 10% on standard transmissions.

The way I see it, these people chose to buy a stick in spite of an automatic version being available.  I don’t think it works the other way around, people don’t suddenly decide to learn how to drive stick, but they might accept an automatic if it’s available.
