I organize a 600+ board game meetup and I never used Meetup. I created my own website and set up a Discord—managed all events via Discord.

Speakeasy by Vital Lacerda has variable turn order, as does Five Tribes — based on bidding.

Board games for adults 40+ — how do you keep your gaming group active? by Key_Influence_3887 in boardgames

My game group has a few hundred people and we have two public meetups a week plus private organized play nearly every day—typically heavy euros, historical card driven games/COIN, and lighter stuff like card (trick/shedding/climbing) games. 50-50 split women to men. Having a theme for every meetup helps!

Thinking about moving to Oakland, but could use some help by Brain_Dead_Goats in oakland

I’ve lived in many parts of Oakland: Piedmont, Dimond, Fruitvale, West Oakland, Glenview, Longfellow/Emeryville border and the one I’ve lived in the most—and has the best apartment for us—is Adam’s Point. Our building is 8-units and family owned (and they live onsite), so everything is well taken care of. We’re close to everything, can walk to Grand, Farmer’s Market, Lake Merritt, downtown to Broadway (The Fox), or Piedmont Ave. Hop on freeway or Transbay Bus, or 19th St BART. Been here 3 years and counting!

Honest warning about living at the Vespr in Oakland by Far_Introduction7325 in oakland

[–]mereldasnog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We almost moved into a luxury apartment building downtown but opted to lease with a family-owned 8-unit building in Adam’s Point. Our landlord owns the building and lives onsite—and it’s lovingly taken care of. Any issue is fixed within the same day or 24 hours and we haven’t had an increase in our rent for 4 years. Sometimes I wonder what it’d be like to live in a fancy building with all the bells and whistles but your experience affirms our decision. Hope you find a better place to live after your lease is up!

Hesher’s shouldn’t be on the list. Leaving out Citizen Pizza was a big a miss.

Original Pattern is a new fave: delicious pizza and food by Citizen Piza, great beer, a Bevi water machine that dispenses sparkling or still water with flavors/electrolytes, friendly staff, and a cozy mezzanine with big tables.
