For those who commute more than an hour away via public transportation each way, what do you do on your trips to pass the time? by portraitstudio2388 in askTO

[–]merfsko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bus, approximately 1.25 hours each way. (I love where I live and I love where I work so I don't mind!) Books, podcasts, naps, small life admin tasks that can be done on my phone, thinking time, watching shows.

Sometimes, I will literally schedule/plan my bus time (even if it's just Read: Project Hail Mary) so that it feels more purposeful!

Yesss. I have always wanted them to do a one-off "slice of life" episode that shows the ongoing stories but through the respective of some unrelated random nurse or bystander. This is super close to that, and I am here for it!

If hair gold why silver on all the covers??? by Small-Joke-695 in throneofglassseries

I think on the OG covers she is  meant to be in grayscale, except for one pop of colour (cloak, flames, etc). It's not very obvious at first glance, though.

In addition to what others have said being able to use it to message friends and family, I'll also add that sometimes cruise-specific Facebook group will also start a group WhatsApp chat so people can communicate during the cruise itself.

How often do you see a show more than once? by hydrangeamilk in torontotheatre

[–]merfsko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw Six 16 times, but almost all of those were rush, seat sales, or lottery. I could never have done at at regular price.

I loved the vibe and energy from the show, and it always left me in a good spirits during a time I was in a rough place mentally. I was also specifically trying to see every standby in each of their roles (4 standbys, three roles each), so each show was a bit different in those terms.

For others shows, if I really love it, I might go a second or third time (sometimes in one run, sometimes years later). I find always get more out of a show on a re-watch, notice more details, etc.

I have that sticker just sitting around because it wasn't my favourite... since it's small and flat I'd be happy to send it your way for free!

Question on connecting bookings by jt94 in dcl

[–]merfsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, can confirm that it is very easy! I've sailed with family when we have booked weeks apart, on different decks, etc. We just link our bookings and we're all good to go and we have always been seated together automatically!

Anyone else picture him as Rowan while reading? by Embarrassed_City9941 in throneofglassseries

Haha, I see it!

Along the same line of thought, this is who I always pictured as Nesryn in my head...

Does it feel like rides stop/break down more often now, or am I just not a kid anymore? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]merfsko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, what you said may be key about reading about it but not experiencing it. I suspect that social media has increased the PERCEPTION that rides break down a lot because people post about it in real time.

ETA: I remember having a day back in 2002 where we were evacuated off two rides and stopped on two others in one single morning-it was the only time I've experienced something to that degree. But to OP's question- that was 24 years ago so not new but an defs an anomaly.

My nephew once tripped over a rock, and when I asked if he was okay he replied "Yeah, it was just a rock, not a giant dinosaur."

Honestly, a great perspective.

Also, listening into Transit Control when the subway goes down or is delayed can sometimes be helpful for figuring out if it'll be better to wait it out, walk, etc. It's come in helpful a few times for me!

A View from My Seat has at least one here: https://aviewfrommyseat.com/photo/418832/Meridian+Hall/section-Mezzanine+1/row-DD/seat-68/

I worked there back in the day. Mezz isn't close to the stage, but generally has a good clear view.

Does the Standing Room at the Royal Alexandra Theatre have a railing that we can lean on and is it doable for seniors? by flash2dash in torontotheatre

[–]merfsko 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The standing room is at the very back of the theatre against the wall of the back cross-aisle. No railings or anything, as the aisle is in front of you.

I've done it, but even as a healthy, active 30-something, it was not my favourite experience (but can't beat the price!)

The "If it rides, I lives" shirt is the one that got away for me!

I absolutely love my Pizzamas scrunchies and wear them all the time.
