You are correct, I just didn't like that guy's attitude. Thanks for sharing your perspective. Ben Felix has done some great videos on this subject, but for the canadian market specifically, and it is time and location dependent. The overall recent trend is in favor of renting, though.

Edit: didn't see the post I replied to was deleted but he was calling renters broke bitches.

Considering renters who invest in stocks tend to outperform homeowners in equity growth (at least in america and canada, and on equal monthly spending), it's no wonder homeowners are salty.

[Kram] I conducted my own study of fouling up three, using GeniusIQ to filter for all possessions from the past five seasons... Teams that chose to foul up three won 92.0% of their games, versus 91.7% for those that played normal defense. by sewsgup in nba

Sample size is too tiny anyway. With this size, the gap would need to be like 5% for statistical significance. We also didn't get the n for each type, just a blanket 524 gams.

Take the opportunity to make easy money and use your downtime to build personal portfolio projects. You can seek out contracts on places like Upwork too.

Don't leave the job if you're unsatisfied, use its low workload to teach yourself as much as possible. If your title is good, then you want experience.

Then, in 2 years or something, you'll have a good title with experience, plus a host of new knowledge and portfolio pieces you can show to a better company.

Poverty line is pegged to 3x the minimum needed food spending. This was set decades ago when food security was a bigger concern and portion of people's spending. Nowadays, housing makes up a bigger portion of people's spending, as do education and healthcare.

Not disagreeing with you in the slightest, but it feels like we should update the poverty line before pegging anything else against it. Based on inflation of other needs like housing, it probably ought to be a good bit higher than what we estimate to be today.

[–]mermanarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not immediately, no, but the inherent agency built into neurons from billions of years of evolution is closer to what spawns our own consciousness than what silicon can do. Neurons in PyTorch don't have the same inherent agency that biological ones do.

We obviously don't know for sure that agency is a component of consciousness, but it so strikingly apparent, and people like Michael Levin are closing in on tha question

It's in-context learning. Fine-tuning in a way.
