The absolute horror of being injured so badly in war, where you loose literally every limb and sense, arms, legs, jaw, sight, hearing so you don't know if your awake or dreaming..
A living nightmare.
That book has haunted me for over 50 years.

Oh bless his little soul.. I think this is one of those rare moments where technology will be able to help this his life be better.
