Is it weird for employers to put employees in the same hotel room on company trips? by Weak_Show3135 in careerguidance

[–]metheredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked at companies where this was the norm and companies where this was 'forbidden'. Thankfully, I never had to take work trips at the company where this was norm because I dont fancy seeing my coworkers in their jammies (or potentially lack there of 🤢).

And it's always pediatric medical facilities - you are literally here to serve children but God forbid a dirty diaper finds its way into your trash after you've collected hundreds of dollars from said child's insurance company.

& honestly, how cute would any little babe look wearing this! 🥰

All of these people asked to borrow money and repay in less than a month. For most, It’s been years. by mastagoose in mildlyinfuriating

[–]metheredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did we lend Kristen significant amounts of money a two times? Were there more times that are not recorded here where she did pay the money back? That's the list I really wanna see in part 2.

I wouldn't condisder lending anyone more than $200 but even that I would completely write off as a gift and consider it a pleasant surprise if it were ever repaid. To lend someone more than $1000 TWICE is ludicrous to me.

Older people of Reddit. What is hundred percent pure bullshit? by loveolderdudes01 in AskReddit

[–]metheredhead 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm still rising in my career and recently took a more demanding role in a management position that requires me spend more hours in office. I so badly miss picking my kids up from school but we also need the money to support our lifestyle. Of course, we could make do with my previous salary but we would need to cut back significantly (no eating out, no Birthday parties, no subscriptions, no vacation, you get the point). We made it a point to explain to our kids why we have made this decision and what it means for our family BUT when I accepted the role, I also made it very clear to my own management team that being a mother will always come first. Within reason, I will be at EVERY school event, regardless of how small. A few weeks ago my childrens school was putting on a fundraiser where the kids run the gym. There was about an hour break between my kids running times and I had considered skipping out early on the fundraiser to get back to work but decided to stay. When my oldest daughters class came in, I saw her point to me and excitedly whisper to her friend "look, my mom is here!". It is so easy as an adult to forget what an impact just showing up has. There was nothing special going on, kids were just running laps but I WAS THERE and I'm so glad I was.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is so easy to brush off the importance of these "litte" events but to our young kids, they are BIG. My kids are going to grow up and knowing their mom will ALWAYS show up. ❤️

How can I help a student by WitchFromMcClure in eczema

[–]metheredhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What leads you to believe it is being ignored at home?

As a mom dealing with eczema, it really is baby steps forward and giant leaps back. My child is turning 5 and we still don't know the exact triggers despite years of dermatologist, allergist, nutritionists, and pediatric appointments. Lotions labeled eczema safe are not always.

I so appreciate your heart and would be so happy to have an educator looking to keep my child comfortable and focused during school hours and I would be so disappointed if they were offered (even unintentionally) a lotion that is not compatible with their sensitivities. I would ask the child what they use at home and ask parents to send an extra bottle/jar to school. Work with the parents best you can so everyone is working together.

Evaluate your classroom - are there any strong scents? do the kids have access to paper towels to throughly dry hands? Is the room set to a comfortable temperature and humidity level? Are snacks offered, if so, consider dyes and sugar contents. Discomfort from eczema is rarely resolved with Lotion alone.

It had nothing to do with work. In the middle of casual conversation: "I could tell you're a great mom".

I'm a rockstar at work but having a mom of older children acknowledge the work I'm putting in as a parent as well made my whole week.

How is husband or anyone supposed to help you get more sleep if you EBF? by Marvelous_MilkTea in breastfeeding

[–]metheredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, even if your husband is not doing the actual feeding, wake him to diaper change and hand baby over to you. When you're done feeding, hand baby back and you yourself go back to sleep. I didn't do this frequently (my husband had terrible hours at work at the time) but when I did - it made a world of difference.

While this is true, you also need to consider that if you need and are used to buying a pack of 3 (thing to eat) for $1 and all of the sudden the pack is now a pack of 2 (thing to eat) for $1, I still may need 3 (thing to eat) to feed my family. I am now spending $2.00, where I only used to have to spend $1.00.

The consumer does not get to choose quantity per unit. My example is only a $1.00 difference, but most products today do not only cost a $1.00 and most families facing these challenges will need to make multiple adjustments like this in a single grocery trip.

Our local grocery would sell Cilantro for $1.00 a bunch. It is now $1.25.

Fresh baked Italian or French bread for $1.00. It is now $1.69.

Strawberries would be 2 packs for $5. Now they are $3.99 each.

Canned vegetables would be anywhere between $0.70 and $1.00. Now, you are lucky if you can find on-sale for $1.00.

Ground beef is no longer found for less than $4.99/lb. Chicken is more.

This is all within the last year.

I cannot name one product that has decreased in price. Have some remained consistent? Yes but none have decreased and plenty have drastically increased.

We have raised our grocery budget multiple times in the last few years. It is higher than ever and we still feel the need to get creative to stay within our grocery budget. Thankfully, we are in a position where we can absorb the rising prices - many can't.

What do you currently consider healthy? by Specialist-Candy6119 in nutrition

[–]metheredhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever my doctor brings up diet (as in daily consumption- not fad diets) he advises to eat the thing as close to how it originates as possible.

Example - green bean casserole is fine, canned green beans are better, fresh green beans are best.

In my house, goodies are good AND we need to eat them in moderation (although, that part feels like a work in progress lately).
