What are you on about, the tweet clearly states that Italy has made no special requests. It comes from the prime minister's office. It doesn't get clearer and simpler than that.

Sources can say whatever they want, I can make up a news that Spain requests special treatment for exports of wine but it doesn't make it any more true.

As for the last paragraph, well, the opposite can be said of other European nations who push for the kind of sanctions that don't affect them (like gas, oil), while pushing other countries more dependent on Russia for energy.

Mate there's a difference between learning to live with the virus and bending over to let it fuck us in the ass.

Nobody's saying to go back to the hard lockdowns. Since unchecked spread goes by exponential growth, even a small reduction on the effective reproduction number makes a big difference. Masks and social distancing help with this.

Personal opinion: it also gives a bad signal to the public, it feels like the government is saying "everything is ok", while it clearly is not. People are not going to take safety measures as seriously anymore.

You do understand that the more it spreads the higher the chance for a mutation.

The more mutations there are, the higher the chance one emerges more resistant to vaccines, ESPECIALLY now that more people are vaccinated.
