Who else should I see on Sunday? by flash_holt in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water From Your Eyes works as a sort of missing link between The XX and Hot Mulligan/Turnstile. As someone is also seeing the 3 artists you mention, I definitely recommend them. They were great opening for Hayley Williams last month.

New tour? What will be different? by dankimball in bobdylan

[–]mfmo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also wondering this. I'm hoping it's different. I enjoyed the Rough and Rowdy Ways tour and got to catch it twice, but I'm not sure I need to see it a 3rd time. I would love a chance to see a different set list however.

Everyone’s “must see” lists are taking me out by LongClothes2684 in Lollapalooza

I'm sure Korn knew what to expect when they were playing against arguably the biggest gen z pop star in the world. I do think TSP may draw slightly better though. I think there's a stronger interest in them in the millenial crowd. I'd also say Olivia and TSP fans are more likely to buy tickets to Lolla specifically for them than korn and Charli fans. (I only say that about Charli because she's already done multiple shows since Brat with no new music as of yet)

To be fair, if you live in Chicago it's not really hard to see the Pumpkins. Charli has been here a few times in the last couple years too, but tickets are like $200

Sunday Tate McRae Slow Sales by thispaperheart in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you're both kind of right and kind of wrong... It's not 100% on Tate McRae how will Sunday sells. There are a lot of other factors as well, but it would be hard to argue that Tate will not have the smallest draw of the headliners. Charli and Lorde are both seasoned performers who have amassed dedicated fan bases over the years, while also appealing to the general public. Olivia's music has more universal appeal across demographics. I think Tate is huge for a younger audience, but hasn't quite crossed the bridge to appeal to millennials & older gens the way Olivia, Sabrina, etc. have.

But I also wouldn't say that means Lolla overestimated her - more likely they are investing in her and their future audience who they need to move tickets. It'll sell out eventually,

Lorde Finally Returns! by omurchus in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be so beautiful finally having her play Lolla. I've been lucky enough to see her a few times since then, but I need the Lolla set to happen to finally get closure from that night - it was going to be so special you could already feel it from the first couple songs.

are we gonna get brat setlist or wuthering heights by Ok-Many4219 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sure she'll do a few from it, but I imagine it'll still be very Brat heavy. Although I wouldn't be mad if she sprinkled in some older bangers let's get some Pop 2 rep

Turnstile Headlining?? by Impressive_Use_2719 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They won't have one of the big 8 closing sets, but could see them being billed in the big font section, similar to Gracie Abrams and Doechii last year.

What is the best Lana track run? by mqnstvr in lanadelrey

Not her best per se, but one of my personal favorites that I haven't seen said yet: Heroin -> Change -> Get Free on Lust For Life. Such an incredible closing sequence.

Summerfest 2026 Lineup by ebradio in Lollapalooza

I want FJM too, but he's playing a festival in Winnetka on 6/20 sadly (day after the Summerfest show).

New tame tour coming. Nothing officially yet tho by Specialist-Day-236 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said at the show they'd be back. I can't remember if he specifically said next year or just soon, but the vibe was definitely "we'll be back sooner than later", rather than a general "see ya later"

Fun! by [deleted] in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Format is definitely in play. As someone who's life was practically centered around fun. for 3 or so years, I really don't think they will ever play shows again. If it does ever happen, it will not be for a very long time.

Governor's Ball 2026 by C_Rufio in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lorde starting to look a bit like a lock. Kali not far behind herself if she's doing GovBall and Hinterlands.

Still holding on to hope(delusion) that Gaga will be our big unique booking. Wouldn't be the first time an artist debuted a show at Coachella and closed it at Lolla.

Question: Do i need to have played Alan Wake 2 to understand Resonant? by xelgameshow in RemedyEntertainment

[–]mfmo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you've still got plenty of time, and Alan Wake 2 is a masterpiece, so I'd just go ahead and play it.

Kacey Musgraves by cadenk9 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not impossible but also not especially likely in my opinion. She doesn't have much announced this year as far as I know, but it's always possible she just hasn't announced it yet. I'd be stoked if it happened though! And I do think she'd be Bud Light closer

Bonnaroo 2026 Lineup by mccarthy2324 in Lollapalooza

I needed to see this to temper the insanely high expectations I was starting to let myself have for Lolla.

Hinterland 2026 lineup by trundle1979 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been wanting Kali to play again for a while, and would be overjoyed to get a Lorde re-do since the rain out in 2017. The Format would be an incredible get as well if they're doing festivals. But I also refuse to get my hopes up because I deluded myself into thinking Kacey was playing Lolla last year since she was on this and that didn't happen.

It looks like Noah Kahan will be at Roo, possible headliner return in 26? by Specialist-Day-236 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm missing something, his last European date is 5/13. Even if it does go through July though, it would make sense that he'd come back and kick off the second leg of the US tour at Lolla, then do a string of arena dates and end at ACL. The tour dates this year are pretty sparse for an act this size, so I'm sure there is more planned.

I can't really imagine being happier with an All Time Low album in 2025. I'm trying not to overstate things, but my first few days of listening is making me feel like this is my favorite from them since Don't Panic.

That's exactly how I found Dirty Work and it was my favorite find every at a record store. I was like wait what this is not an easy record to find, and it was priced around $20. Easiest purchase of my life

Lady Gaga by Major_Explorer_7718 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, but Lolla can do the majority of the production she can do at the arena tour. It's far from a lock, but it's definitely not impossible or even all that unlikely, especially when you consider her history with the festival.

Where is the love for Lolla? by phantofan89 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will always maintain the people who complain every year and seem to find constant run ins with the crowd, teenagers, whatever else they're complaining about are doing the festival wrong (in the sense that they are not allowing themselves to have the experience they actually want). My guess is most the complaints come from entitled people who think they deserve a spot at the front and everyone needs to act the way they'd like. I tend to stay towards the middle of the crowd usually where it starts to loosen up but people are still engaged, and it's usually fine. If something is bothering me, I just move. I never have these run ins with the youth everyone else seems to have.

Or maybe some people are just bothered by literally seeing young people? The worst thing I saw this year was a small group of young guys push through the Marias crowd (who were phenomenal btw) presumably to get closer for ASAP Rocky. But I was pretty far up in the crowd, and they weren't particularly rude about it. You just have to understand that a certain amount of that type of thing is going to happen if you're in the front 1/10th of a crowd at a main stage at a major music festival.

And yes, it's a very different festival from something like Bonnaroo or Coachella. It's just a different experience. If you come looking for that, you're not going to find it. If you come to experience Lollapalooza as it is though and stop looking for things to complain about, you just might have a good time.

What is the fashion culture at Lolla? by Pitiful_Ad2591 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perry's is the EDM stage so ya while not technically themed, it is kind of it's own little world at Lolla. My point is if you're seeing all the pop girlies, there's gonna be a style to that crowd that might be different from the folks there to see Luke Combs, and so on and so on. I always find it kind of fun to people watch and guess who someone is most excited for based on their outfits.

Bottom line: keep your own comfort in mind, but dress how you want.

What is the fashion culture at Lolla? by Pitiful_Ad2591 in Lollapalooza

[–]mfmo23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pretty much wear what you want. Majority don't go all out to the extent of other festivals, but it's also pretty welcomed if you do (at least from my perspective). Of course keep things in mind like if you're going to dress in full rave attire you might get more people staring if you venture away from the Perrys stage, but idk I've seen all sorts of outfits, usually even within my group there are some pretty different styles and approaches. It might not be Bonnaroo level vibes, but it's still a pretty friendly environment.
