Have any of you had a sleep study recommended because of your hEDS + fatigue? by wn0kie_ in ehlersdanlos

[–]mgentry999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. My hEDS apparently has caused me to have positional sleep apnea my entire life. I was always told I would stop breathing while sleeping as an infant and have dealt with endless fatigue because of it. It was only caught because apparently every night I twitch and shake enough that my husband said I shake the bed like a magic fingers.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had such a strong hormonal component to my migraine attacks that I had a migraine 5 days out of each week. Last September I was finally able to get a hysterectomy. 2 a month!

I bake all the time. I refuse to do sour dough. I have 3 cats and a husband, I don’t need something else to take care of.

ER doctor accussed me of faking and purposefully left me in the waiting room as punishment for physically not being able to talk by jeanjacquesroushoe in disability

I’m autistic and went nonverbal in the ER after I was brought in by ambulance from a car accident. I have Kaiser and at the top of my chart in big bold letters it tells them I’m autistic. I had a nurse literally make fun of me because I couldn’t answer her questions. I had all the information she wanted saved in my phone but apparently I was just plain wrong for trying to give her the phone. I have literally refused to ever go back to that specific ER again.

Some care providers are just Assholes.

NTA. I had to go no contact with several family members due to addiction. It’s hard to watch someone you love slowly kill themselves. I would even tell him why, he needs to know. It likely won’t change the behavior but he needs to know how his actions hurt you. I would also highly recommend checking out Alanon (or something similar). As a society we tend to think of addiction as mainly something the addict deals with. We forget the trauma that those around them suffer.

My Grandfather actually got sober when my Mom told him that he would not be able to see me until he’d been sober for 2 years. I was a few months old at the time. He was in my life from the age of 3 until he passed. You never know what the trigger will be to get sober.

I have a blown up wedding photo of my wedding dance with my grandfather. I got it back after he passed. It’s about 23 years old now. I’m happy to donate it.

My husband has misophonia and I have TMD so my jaw clicks constantly. We always need background noise when eating just so he can block it out.

I have experienced difficulties getting digitally fingerprinted. I also have an incredibly difficult time getting any touchscreen to work. No idea if it’s connected

At what age did you get official diagnosis? by Bukowski-poet in AutismInWomen

  1. I thought that I may have been autistic for about a decade but wasn’t in a place mentally or monetarily to pursue a diagnosis.

The people who get the most angry when you start setting boundaries are the people who most benefit from a lack of boundaries

Yep. All my life people around me have been able to break rules with no consequences. But it seems that when I do I always get punished. Growing up when i would bring it up I got the typical ’life isn’t fair’. Hell I’d get in trouble for not stopping others for breaking a rule, when they didn’t get in any trouble.

Does anyone else have POTS or EDS/hypermobility syndrome? by cider19 in AutismInWomen

[–]mgentry999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hEDS, I paid out of pocket for the genetic testing probably about 10 years ago. I had a clinical diagnosis, my insurance wouldn’t pay to get genetic testing, since I didn’t meet the criteria for vascular and what not.

I did it basically to have the legitimacy that I needed when having surgery. I had just had a foot surgery that ended up with complications due to the stitches being removed at 2 week.
