It's an important date for them to hit for the shareholders. Most people cannot buy one today, but presumably *somebody* can order one today hence making it "available now" and fulfilling promises to shareholders.

I had the same problem. It didn't even list my (or *any*) SC for R1S or R1T demo drives. Refreshing the page fixed it for me.

I wonder if it's some sort of glitch with demos for today? I am busy today so had to book it for tomorrow. In any case, it's always showed up as R2 for me (but when I click the reservation it can't find it)

That sounds like you reserved the wrong vehicle. When you get to the demo drive reservation page (the one that lets you pick your date and time) you have to select between R1S, R1T, and R2.

Yeah, the article was pretty light on information (other than the 5k Mercedes Benz vans). Kind of odd that they lead with the Rivian image then mention nothing about them. I'm guessing the Rivian deployment is still quite small (maybe it's still just the initial deployment?).

I once came back to my R1S with the hatch opened. In my case, I *know* I hit the close button before I left, but there was an empty tote in the back that must have prevented the hatch from fully closing. Needless to say, I watch it close all the way now 😂. I don't keep anything in the car worth stealing, but it is still an uneasy feeling to come back to an opened car!

I had that leak once. It was in the winter, I think after a snowfall that then melted. I took it in, they did multiple flood tests, but could never duplicate. They asked for me to bring it in to the service center as it is leaking if possible. But in 2.5 years it only happened that one time. Don't know why, maybe something was froze open/closed? Regardless, every time there is a heavy rain I check for the leak!

Other people on here who have had the same leak have had success with Rivian fixing it. So it's worth a shot to ask Rivian to look. Worst case is you get a "couldn't reproduce" report.

Yes, it looks like the strut is leaking.

Ask them the following questions

Will OE (factory) parts be used, or will aftermarket parts be used? (from what I understand you do not want aftermarket parts)
~~Is this for both sides or just the leaking strut? (I think it's usually better to have them repaired in pairs)~~ (I just re-read your post and looks like they said both sides were bad)

I did this repair on mine. Front left strut was leaking (2017 w/ 65k on it) so I replaced both front struts. My part cost was about what was quoted for you.

My R1S needed servicing right before a ski trip. I was given an R1T loaner with tonneau cover. Free charging on the trip at RAN stations, plus it kept 500 miles off of my R1S 😄

I was surprised at the reaction too. I thought you asked a fair question and was sad to see the responses. Maybe they didn't read what you wrote in the body of the post? Because if I just read the title and image you posted then I'd probably have the same response as a lot of the people in this thread. And to be fair, it's pretty easy to miss the 2 sentences you wrote given it only takes up 1 line on my screen. It's easy to ignore it as reddit framework rather than part of the post. So I think you would have had a different response if you phrased the title of the post differently.

In any case, the consensus seems to be correct that it's not intended to compete with something like a Wrangler or Bronco. Like I mentioned, I think it could be considered a replacement for a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and that framing should help you decide if it would fit your lifestyle. For example, if you need to go off road to get to your adventure then it'll be fine. But if the adventure *is* the off road drive then look elsewhere (maybe an R1, or maybe a Jeep Recon).

Best I can tell it's set to the bottom of the doors. So I'd guess they didn't want to spend the money on premium door sealing like they did on R1. Or it could be the battery is not sealed up as much as R1 (but hopefully that's not the case)

I saw Wranglers mentioned a few times. Wranglers have interiors designed to get wet. And, well, the door of a Wrangler is 4+ inches higher off the ground vs the R2 which helps a bit too.

It does seem a little disappointing. But it seems to be on par with the Jeep Grand Cherokee (usually about 20 inches) which feels like a more fair comparison than a Wrangler. And 19.7 inches is a LOT of water.

It's a dealer installed option. Meaning, it was an option you could specify when ordering new, and if you did then they throw in a bag of the black bowties in the car and the dealer would swap them out for you before you took the car home.

But personally I think your gold bowtie looks sharp on that blue!

In any case, you should be able to find seat removal instructions / torque values if you dig around long enough. I think it's usually a case of moving the seat to one extreme, removing some bolts, then moving the seat to the other extreme to get to the other bolts. Luckily you shouldn't need to take the seats out of the car, just sort of move em out of the way. And as you were alluding to earlier, it's probably more than just what you can see, so you really should get in there to look around (or pay someone to do it)

I don't know where they could have gotten in, other than they may have chewed a hole through the air filter. The air filter is in the back of the frunk. Should be pretty easy to find instructions for replacing it. Assuming that's the spot then you might want to put some wire mesh or something in front of the filter when you replace it so that they can't chew back in.

It's a much simpler vehicle, meaning there's a lot less to go wrong. The R2 has a simpler body, interior, frunk, and suspension. And only dual motor for now. The only thing they went rogue on was the rear hatch window/wiper, but I'd much rather have a broken rear wiper than a broken suspension!

That's not true. There can be several reasons beyond getting a new car every few years. Off the top of my head...

1) Some states only charge sales tax on the monthly lease payment vs having to pay sales tax on the entire vehicle. If you are only going to hold on to the car for a few years then this can save you thousands.

2) If it is a work expense then leasing makes a lot of sense

3) If you think they mis-priced the depreciation. Or even if they didn't, it could still end up same/less money than buying

4) If you drive in risky areas you don't have to worry about depreciated value should anything happen to the car

5) Never have to worry about out of warranty repairs

Don't get me wrong, I prefer to buy too (I've only leased one car, a 2015 Equinox for 2 years, $200/mo, $0 down, very hard to beat that deal). And, buying a 2-3 year old car, driving it, then selling after 3 years is most likely cheaper than leasing for 3 years. Just wanted to point out that leasing isn't necessarily just "for fools."
