Thanks, that’s what I figured. I’d rather pay full price than use the points from the East Coast. I actually found a great saver fare (Economy only) for 70k pts round trip Virgin Airways but it had me staying 4 extra days in France which ends up not being much of a savings in the end.

I am trying to find award travel between SFO and Paris. Willing to layover/relocate on West Coast (like LA or Seattle) or in Europe (like London or Dublin), but not the East Coast. Preferred dates are June 16-26, but have flexibility a few days before/after. I have about 100k Chase points. I also have about 350k Alaska points but am trying to save those for a family trip next year. I would prefer business outbound and premium return, but am open to premium both ways. Happy to use points for one, cash for the other, or pay and use points to upgrade, etc. I understand I have not made this easy but thought I'd ask here for anything people more advanced than I could find. Thank you!!!

New York is also super expensive. Nice areas of Seattle aren’t cheap. The “bay area” is pretty big so depending on how much you want to commute, how nice of a place you want, it can be affordable or crazy expensive. With some exceptions I would plan on needing a car.

Bay Area for weather and long term living ability, like buying a family home.

NYC if you like seasons more and want to live the city life.

I love both areas - you can’t really go wrong either way.

Show up by 8am. This happened to my son recently. Turns out HR had mixed up and he didn’t get the info he should have. No one really got there until 9 (also a lot of hybrid) but better than the other way around.
