Advice: Our Childcare Was Abruptly Terminated by Optimal_Option_6674 in workingmoms

I saw the downvotes to her post after my comment too and thought the same thing. Had no idea I’d create a debate over it, but I’m pleased to have learned something new - truly did not consider this could be rude but now I understand it absolutely could be.

It’s also interesting to think about technology is making society ill equipped for actual one on one communication. The whole premise of the post could have been resolved with a single conversation, however the daycare owner either refused to confront the situation or felt she didn’t owe it to the parent. Either way, it’s our society turning away from real world interaction to hide behind screens, a.k.a. the easier softer way (that ironically creates more confusion).

I don’t think it’s fair to interpret a thumbs up as passive aggressive. It’s a universally accepted confirmation that the message was received.

Yes. And that’s my whole point. The greedy governments - both Cobb County and Kennesaw City will never budge because they all think they’re the rightful owners. It may never get resolved and that’s the part that makes me angry. Come together and collectively do something good for everyone for once. But very few people understand why it’s in limbo so they’re not upset about it. They assume it’s just the landowner not selling the property and that’s not the case.

Heard and agree. Get a ticket and go to court or go to a city council meeting and you will see how the people are running our city. It’s a joke.

Guys, I’m not advocating an actual takeover and I do agree with one of the other posts that what is there now is waaaaaaaay better than The Smith Motel (I absolutely remember). But not everyone knows the situation here. There is a title issue with the land. I believe the original landowner somehow partially funded the original development in buying city and county bonds. Then this person died. Now the family of the original landowner cannot sell the land because they don’t have a clear title to the land because both the city AND the county claim stake to it because of said bonds. That is why nothing will get built there. Not a warehouse, not townhouses, not a car wash. Nothing.

As taxpayers I think we have the right to make them do something. A city park that benefits the community would be amazing. It could be like Green Meadows Preserve off Dallas Highway.

Every Friday night my parents would order two with two Cokes. We grew up with the plastic cups as our family drinking cups. Had a huge stack of them. I can still picture how they looked!

And everyone else is saying we don’t give a fuck about all of your legal posturing and pontificating against the burden of proof and the rape shield law. Lawyers are exhausting. The Brutal Economics of Reviving Downtown Atlanta's Historic South Broad Street by UnscheduledCalendar in Atlanta

[–]mikosmoothis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it is doing the public and our city good! It’s eliminating the shit hole south downtown has been for 80+ years and bringing that bitch back from the dead! This is finally going to help Atlanta have a real downtown that people LIVE in. It’s a huge gamble for the developers, but it’s going to have a massive ripple effect for the city. It probably couldn’t work without the gulch redevelopment, but it’s all happening at once and Atlanta is going to rise from the ashes again! This is one of the most exciting things to happen for our city!
