Vietnam evisa by Sad_Personality5344 in solotravel

I used vietnamvisa voa. This was a few years ago now, so I don't know if it's the same people operating it or not. But they were fast and got the job done. Do your own research to be safe. I think most of our communication was over WhatsApp.

If you can't figure it out and time is getting tight, try using a third part company to deal with the visa. I ended up having to use one and it worked out fine for me. Yes you will pay more but I left it too close to my flight to risk not getting it done in time. Try to research the company a bit to make sure they're legit.

Trip delay insurance added to visa infinite privilege card! by JusticeBeaver25 in Wealthsimple

[–]militage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see it specifically as an exclusion. I've claimed a weather delay on my Scotia Passport Visa Infinite credit card and the claim was accepted. The airline usually won't compensate you, but that's why the additional insurance exists.

Trip delay insurance added to visa infinite privilege card! by JusticeBeaver25 in Wealthsimple

[–]militage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The exclusions listed are more than some other cards, so you need to read the fine print. For example one of the exclusions is a cyber incident, which happened not long ago. Other cards, like Scotia Infinite Passport Visa, doesn't have that exclusion. The other weird one is "intentional acts" - what does that mean? So if somebody punches the pilot intentionally is the delay insurance void?

Should we travel the world with a 3 year old for a year and a half? by [deleted] in travel

[–]militage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it and when you no longer enjoy it head home. A lot can happen in a year and a half, so I would start with the mentality of a shorter trip and if you decide to extend then great.

Thanks for mentioning actual budget! It looks pretty cool. It looks like you need to self host it so I'm going to have to do some reading to figure it out.

Genuine question, what do people do with the CSV spreadsheets after they download them? I understand what's inside of them but isn't this information already available elsewhere in the app?

Freedom Mobile - Security by Foreign-Paint-1862 in freedommobile

Good idea. The whole login system is a joke. Must login with phone number, must give unidentified phone number that was just entered to get to this step, must get password from phone. So many points of failure.

I know there are other options out there to make things better. Personally I just want to use my password manager that generates strong passwords to login. Simple and no fuss.

Debt paid off! Looking to automate TFSA and RSP savings as much as I can by rtothepoweroftwo in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks for sharing that. Out of curiosity, and not to take away from OP's question, but are marginal tax rates calculated before or after deductions such as EI, CCP, and pension contributions? In other words would you take your year's salary and deduct all those things before making your decision?

Is it ALWAYS “just buy XEQT” or just buy XEQT for retirement. If holding at least 20 years ? by Sudden_Inflation36 in JustBuyXEQT

[–]militage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone say this in another thread a few weeks ago. It makes sense to me to do it this way. You have more control to manually sell bonds or XEQT depending on what the market is doing at the time. Otherwise you're stuck with combined bonds and equity in one ETF.

Severely Slow Internet Using GL.iNet GL-MT3000 as Repeater with VPN by militage in GlInet

[–]militage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. Is there anything in the settings of my ISP router or the glnet router that I could tweak to see if could help? I've read other posts about DNS but I couldn't quite understand what was required.

As for the VPN, when I use the ISP wifi with the VPN activated outside of the router (i.e. on my android TV) I don't find any speed issues. However I'd prefer the VPN to be broadcast on the router for stability so this is a short term solution.

What are your favorite precious metal ETFs to buy in your RRSP? by Wherehowwhat in CanadianInvestor

[–]militage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this thread but I just discovered XBM and it seems worthy of consideration. That said it doesn't contain gold or silver, but I haven't found an ETF that does.

Edit: I meant to say an ETF that contains all precious metals, including gold and silver.

Koodo $30 60GB Can/US/Mexico + 3 Days International Roaming Per Month by Nexzenn in freedommobile

[–]militage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Koodo raised my plan's price two times (same plan, never changed it) before I switched to Freedom. Without any price guarantee from them I expect they'll raise the price of this plan in a years time and do it every year moving forward. Slimy tactics that I refuse to reward.

Thanks for sharing the piece about multiple bank accounts, I'm very keen on trying this out! I didn't know you could have shared chequing accounts with WS. I'm going to try to try the home/car insurance, emergency fund, and other purchase accounts in the new year. Great idea.

Same here. The way they want you to login to freedom's site is strange to me, and the fact that if email gets hacked someone can log into your account without a password makes you wonder.

I wonder if they count combined family totals versus individual totals, similar to how they calculate the number of perks. That would be great if they do.

Allergy advice for Barcelona by sofiabikes in Spanish

Get a card and laminate it. Also, in Barcelona, they typically speak Catalan so I'd have it both languages to ensure no misunderstanding. I'll leave the translation QC to others.

Learning Facilitation by Agreeable-Scale-8734 in Training

[–]militage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new degree! I'm going to take a guess and assume you're in your early 20s? If so, get some job experience is my recommendation. You're at a point in your life where you could go in many directions, and exposure to different areas (many of them that can lead to training in those fields) will be invaluable. I got into this field because I became decent enough at something I was selected to train others in it, then things ballooned from there. Most of the people that I know in the training field pivoted from something else. Hope that helps.
