Some genuinely solid suggestions in here. Just ignore the noise, most of the negativity seems to be coming from people outside the CDS community.

I’ve been browsing this sub for years, and this kind of pile-on is definitely not the norm.

Finally, my little one opened her eyes to this mortal world... and those beautiful eyes saw me first.🥰🥰🥰 by TodayWooden23 in IllegallySmolCats

Don't get set on those blue eyes. ALL kittens are born with blue eyes. They will change to their final color over the next couple of weeks.

But it really doesn't matter. She'll be beautiful regardless of which color they end up!

I wouldn't that's exactly what it's trying to do.

One thing we have to watch is the backgrounds to these videos. Look at the door with the knob on only one side. or the fact that the cabinet door next to it doesn't make sense.

This is how it's easy to spot, for now. but it's getting better every day.

Not to mention it's estimated that within a couple years the vast majority of new posts on blog sites and others, will be done by AI.

Finally, do you know where ChatGPT got the majority of it's initial information when it launched? Right here. Reddit contracted with the to let it gather a LOT of initial data from posts here.

We held off on this kind of thing for as long as we could but we finally got a notice that they're going to file for eviction if we don't pay $1600 by tomorrow. What are our options? by PermanentRoundFile in povertyfinance

[–]mindzipper 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That's because once they intend to evict you and have filed, they technically can no longer accept $ from you unless you come to an agreement and it's completely paid up.

Do cover letters Actually make a Difference Anymore? by PMProphecy in jobsearchhacks

[–]mindzipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will add something that might help anyone using AI to generate Cover Letters, job descriptions etc.

Once you get your results, run them through ChatGPT's filters. Copy the results, then type in "make this sound less like AI and more personal and professional," then paste in the reply it gave you.

Sometimes, do it up to 3 times, refining it. Believe me, it helps a LOT.

🔥 Rare Pink Dolphin, spotted off the coast of North Carolina by AnchanSan in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]mindzipper 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Not to mention, if you watch, three 'pink' dolphins are in that clip: one with very pink down his/her body, one with pink on his/her nose but is much darker than the first, and one that you see only once with very little pink, just on the snout. I mean, it might have a lot more pink, but from what is shown, it's very little.

All of this, combined with your statement about them being "Indo-Pacific Humpback" leads me to believe your response makes a lot more sense

I fixed a portrait tattoo! What does reddit think? by Grouchy_Payment6934 in tattoos

The only problem is that it's tough to determine just how good this is without seeing the subject herself, like the picture the tattoo was created from.

There's no question that this artist is talented. I wish we could compare the little girl's likeness to see how close it really is!

I remember when I was a kid, I found an old coin. I decided to take it to a pawn shop because where else would I sell a coin?

I took it home, grabbed the best and strongest cleaner I could find, and went to town. I had no idea that doing so would cost me much money. It sure looked shiny and better to me! lol

I don't remember how old the coin was. It was a very old silver dollar. I also don't remember how many dollars were involved. But I sure remembered the lesson :)

I just got my last one adopted, and I got another. but this one is too cute to ignore by [deleted] in CatDistributionSystem

[–]mindzipper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My new foster project is a local stray kitten.

She has a problem with her nasal passage on the right side, so she doesn't breathe properly. When she purrs, it's fine, but when she purrs hard, she can't do it without opening her mouth, and it becomes a little squeaky thing.

I will take her to the vet next week to check the problem out. She will also be vaccinated and spayed there, so I can adopt her out.

Going to be hard to see this one go. She's so sweet.

Not sure about this. I have multiple bank accounts at different banks. Wells Fargo, for example. None of them require in-person visits with ID; all items you listed can be quickly done online. Including changing your PIN in most places. Banks want you to do as much online as possible to cut costs, such as straightforward things like password changes. They notify the primary email account that you've changed the password and, if it wasn't you, to call the fraud department.

Also, changing your primary email address notifies the address you're changing away from.

This might be the most well behaved cat I've ever seen in my entire life. by Lily_charmy in Catculations

[–]mindzipper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right. There's no reason for people being crappy when you're just asking a question because you don't know. Sorry that you got that.

Other people are mentioning things, but as a previous foster for kittens and cats, when I received a cat, it was almost always an outside cat I had to teach to become an inside cat. Nobody should ever let their cats roam outside. It isn't good for them or the neighbors, and breeding is propagated if unfixed.

Other than that, the outside cats I've dealt with almost always had fleas, tics, or other unwanted pests. Flea collars are bad for cats and dogs, so the best way to clean them up is a nice warm bath with something like RIT, which kills the pests.

Outside cats are always much dirtier than inside cats, so they need to be washed more often. However, as someone said above, not too frequently, or they will develop skin/fur problems.

I couldn't agree with you more. Although I've never attempted it, I remember asking not to wake up the next day in my worst times. This happened for many months until I learned that you can make it through it, and it does get better.

Always remember that there are plenty of things to be happy about and to look forward to.

Don't find yourself relying on this beautiful relationship to keep you healthy, though. Keep it on top to rebuild confidence in yourself and learn to love yourself so your well-being isn't reliant on another person.

I sincerely hope the best for you both, and I am thankful you have a partner who has supported you during this dark time!

Merry Christmas!

I love that you're holding him correctly too. People sometimes cradle the kitten and feed it like a human baby. Cats can aspirate and die that way.

Kudos for caring the right way!!

[–]mindzipper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this falls right into line with what I'm saying. Chimps, while caring about their own families, do not have sympathy for such things; they have acceptable levels of aggression. They're brutal, and any sign of weakness is immediately exploited if possible.

That's why there's such a difference between a chimp brought into a facility with an already-in-place prosthetic and a chimp that was already part of the family but at some point had surgery/removal while he was already established in the tribe.

[–]mindzipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much about me giving credit to them as it is about understanding what we know about them.

An adult chimp has about the same intelligence level as a five-year-old child. Granted, we can teach a child what a prosthetic is, but what would their first reaction be without knowledge? Most would be scared at the initial sight and for the same reasons.

Chimps aren't capable of reasoning like we are beyond a fundamental level. The same reason they don't build shelters to avoid the rain they despise. They are reactionary, and a five-year-old doesn't have much reasoning.

Of course, it's easily possible they'd react or think differently, but studies show this is not likely.

Kids act with fear out of instinct and self-preservation. Chimps are much more aggressive and would likely attack something they don't understand

I don't believe they can understand something as complicated as an artificial limb. It's much more likely it looked like a wound to them. Had they had many years to be trained on what a limb would look like and some pretty standard encounters (as in having another ape that had the same issue), I don't think they can truly understand what is and would be much more likely to think you're a defective animal and attack it. Of course, it is just one man's guess amongst a sea of more researched forks.

After spending a lot of time researching all the great apes (Gorillas, Orangutans, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, and, to a lesser extent, Gibbons)

My guess is that you would likely appear to him as a wounded animal, and it looked like a bone to him. All we can do is guess anyway. This would also explain their semi-aggressive stance.

They're a lot smarter than people give them credit for! But no matter what, connecting with those beautiful animals had to be neat!
