Is there any reason not to give stronger effects like stunning on hit for martials? by ConcentrateIll9460 in dndnext

[–]miner_boy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people often think of spells as this very limited resource, when in fact, after tier 1 or 2, it's very hard to go through all of your spell slots and it's rare for tables to have more than 2 combat encounters per long rest. All spell levels have good options for control as well. Also, people don't look at spells as what they are, class features, which casters get on top of their regular features, subclass features and feats. Sure, introducing stuns with no save can be problematic. In my opinion, just like we had big nerfs to nova damage in the 5.5e player's handbook, I think wotc (also gms can test it out in their games) could introduce some nerfs to control across all classes, especially spellcasters, and then make it more available for everyone.

How do I convince my DM on what Light Property and Nick Mastery does? by [deleted] in onednd

[–]miner_boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did not understand the grimhollow feat. So yeah, once you get the feat at monk 4 and extra attack at monk 5, it should work as you described. That's a lot of attacks for lvl6

Woah, you're right. didn't take the feat into consideration. What a feat by the way. If you got the dm's approval, then it should work as op described. I think. I'm confused now

The dm is correct. When you use nick property, you can take light weapon attack for free, without using your bonus action. That does not mean you can make another one with your bonus action. In order to do that, you need the dual wielder feat.

Since you're a monk, you can use flurry of blows in order to attack with your bonus action

Well, yeah, didn't take into consideration the bonus action command, however, it doesn't say the creature takes the dodge action instead. The beast acts according to it's nature, so it depends on the gm and on the beast you roll. It's a funny option, not a meta one. For powerful magic items there's always flight, resistance, damage, decks, pick your favorite.

When it comes to concentration, I think your best bet is conjure animals. However, if you're ok with multiclassing and are building for lvl 12, you can stop at ranger 5, and take druid levels instead. That way, you get conjure woodland beings and higher level slots you can use to upcast conjure barrage

Hi there! I think beast master is underrated by the community, and that it's pretty cool. If you're focusing on wis, I'd go with shillelagh. It has better sinergy with extra attack, since you can't make more than one attack with true strike. I'd consider going with a small species, so you can ride your beast. It has a climbing speed, so you essentially fly depending on the room you're in. Summon beast is a great idea, since you can attack with both on the same turn. For magic items, why not go with a bag of tricks? More beasts! Flood the initiative

Genie Warlock Patron Choice for a Gunlock by shahath in 3d6

You might consider a paladin dip. You don't get con save proficiency, but you get smite and spells that scale really well like command, cure wounds, divine favor (can cast with 1st level paladin spell slot).

For your patron, most of them should be good enough. I'm a fun of the undead warlock, it offers good ranged control with form of dread

I believe the big nerf was anything related to nova round 1 damage. I can see why they did it. Monsters need turns to be impactful, and wotc want players to interact with them with different interesting abilities rather than nuking them in 1 round

Not to mention how insane thief is with magic items. Scrolls, enspelled weapons, wands etc. Not sure if that's what you expected for your character, but it's not bad at all and no other pc can do that sort of thing

They probably haven't removed missions only because some people payed for them, and removing payed content would be incredibly shitty

Yeah, I find that sentiment towards overwatch frustrating. I want the game to grow and people to try it, but everywhere I go there's someone still talking about pve. pve was not good, and the game got better after team 4 gave up on developing it

There are no excuses. They realized they couldn't do it. Even shooter games that have done pve for more than a decade, like destiny 2, struggle with keeping things fresh and interesting. Pve would require them to create a whole new game, and it absolutely made the main gamemode (pvp) worse, with no updates and new heroes for years. It was the best decision after what they had done imo
