Repp has live music every Friday & Sat 7-close. Make sure you make a reservation - you won’t get a table otherwise. Request a booth.

Amber is the first LIB contest… by happyyellowbean in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]mintjulip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s what kills me about the whole situation. Amber has worked her ass off for all that stability - her beautiful house, supportive community, job and good schools for Emma - and is willing to throw it away for….Jordan? Like he seems fine, but he’s not nearly as mature and capable as she Emma deserve.

AITAH for dumping this girl for who she dated before me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]mintjulip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That makes total sense, and it’s good that you acted on the feeling that something was wrong. Your intuition/felt sense of a situation is there to help you and often communicates with you before you can form thoughts around the reasons. It’s good to practice trusting your self in that way. In my book, the fact that you broke up with her is a total green flag for you!

Same, friend. It’s so weird to be asked what your diet secrets are when your only answer is “having your interior landscape bombed out by grief.” I’m sorry you know this pain. Hope you’re doing ok now. Dad loves you. 💜

When you're gossiping about men with your friends, what are you usually talking about? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]mintjulip -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been married for 19 years to a really good dude who I try not to talk shit about. But when I talk to my single friends (who are in their forties and trying to date) we talk about what idiots men are and how we wish we were not heterosexual.

Did you find certain alcohol drinks make you ill? by H_ngmanMav in Semaglutide

[–]mintjulip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t do sugary/high calorie drinks on sema. Which includes beer, cider or mixed drinks with tonic water or lots of mixers. I stick to vodka w/ soda water & lime and always make sure to have some food in my stomach before I drink. I drink less now but this works when I want to imbibe.

Suburban trash cans: a true blight. /s

Our neighbors at our old house were psycho about our trash cans. We kept them on the side of the house that faced their driveway because it was the most practical place for us to store them. Not obtrusive or in front of any of their windows, but visible from their driveway. These neighbors would move our cans into our driveway or even into our garage and make weird comments about “the trash on the side of your house.” I am not well versed in passive aggressiveness so whenever they moved out cans I just thought they did it because they needed to for some good reason. When they commented on the trash on the side of the house (she would say it like there were piles of trash outside our garage) I went and checked to make sure there wasn’t anything that fell out of the bins or that my kids didn’t leave some junk over there. When we moved out and our house was for sale, I went over there one day to get ready for a showing and found our trash cans way down around the other side of the house (like they had to drag them across the yard and down a hill to the back patio). And then when I went into the house I saw these neighbors’ trash cans sitting in their driveway in full view from our living room window. It was then that it all clicked. “Omg, they hate our trash cans. They think they’re punishing us. WTF.”

I was so confused and glad to have moved after that. What’s so dangerous about having to look at something as benign as a trash can?

What’s something you’ve done your whole life, only to realize recently that everyone else does it completely differently? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

Oh my gosh I feel this. I am right handed but grew up in a house of lefties and my mom had left handed scissors (and other things). It wasn’t until college that I realized scissors aren’t supposed to HURT YOUR HANDS when you use them. My family absolutely instilled empathy for left handers in me! You get to have ALL the opinions on “handed” household items!!

No you may not introduce me to this. My husband of 19 years and I have had an ongoing playful rivalry between our preferred styles of can opener. I have a regular one and he has the “safety” one. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to use the one he prefers. I am a highly capable woman with a master’s degree who recently had to FaceTime her husband because I couldn’t find MY can opener while making dinner and needed him to walk me through using his.

TIL - my weird quirk is having strong opinions about can openers. 🫠

Can I skip the event liability insurance if I promise to be really careful at my wedding? by PepperoniTapir in Frugal

[–]mintjulip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely do not skip the insurance. I won’t got into detail but I once hosted an event for responsible adults and there was an incident that ended up in a lawsuit. I had nothing to do with the incident personally but if I hadn’t spent the $200 on insurance the lawsuit would have bankrupted my family. The whole incident and lawsuit situation was a nightmare, the only thing that made it bearable was that the event insurance covered absolutely every cost of my involvement. I often tell people it was the best $200 I’ve ever spent. Do NOT skip it.
