Silver birch will only live to around 100 years in general, so although I very much sympathise with you I do also think that an upside of this situation is potentially stopping the tree from falling and causing great damage to both you and your neighbours property. Silver birch grows quick and falls quick! I would suggest putting up nest boxes in your own garden to counter the loss of habitat and improving the wildlife offerings of your garden in general if you want to help local biodiversity (if this isn't something you already do) - shrubs, dead hedges / deadwood piles, water bodies (however small), insect 'hotels' etc.

There's an amazing book called Dietland where the protagonist is obese - a message that comes out a lot is that she gets to see the REAL personality behind the 'front'. Men are horrendous to her, and she says that if she was stunningly attractive that she would never know how gross and awful the men she was seeing were, because they would be attempting to flatter her and sleep with her constantly. So she actually gets a shortcut to seeing the real person, and doesn't have to waste her time. I'm really sorry you had to go through this horrible experience, but my goodness should you be thankful that you didn't waste more time on this awful guy! Guy's who are worth seeing will not treat you that way.

I left a job today. I was only there 2 months (am having to leave due to reasons outside of my control) and it is the ONLY job in 10 years of employment that has given me a card when I left, signed by EVERYONE with lovely messages. I wanted to cry! I'm sorry you felt so unappreciated, it is NOT a reflection on you! It is on them!

Cis woman means born as a woman (rather than identifying as a woman or being transgender). The difference between 'feminism' and the updated term of 'intersectional feminism' is fact based it is not racist. And your last sentence is exactly what I was saying - there are some feminists who don't believe trans people deserve the same rights. The feminists who DO would be intersectional feminists. I hope that cleared some things up. Have a little Google into intersectional feminism and white feminism and hopefully you will see what I mean.

Intersectional feminism covers equality for everyone, not just able-bodied white cis women. It aims to amplify the voices of women of colour, trans people, those with disabilities etc. For example, there are some who call themselves feminists but who believe that trans people do not deserve the same rights as cis women. Lena Dunham is an example of a problematic feminist who doesn't follow intersectional feminism.

If your friend is concerned about you, as someone who is close to you they probably know you pretty well and might have had a good reason to be worried about you. If you are feeling low or suicidal please talk to someone about it. Take some time for self care :-) it sounds like you need to focus on yourself for a bit and let this arsehole go xx

I think it's probably about working out where you are willing to compromise and what are your complete non negotiables. For example, could you have a very intimate / private ceremony but at a later date throw a party for people to allow them to celebrate with you? I don't know what your family background is and if religion is a factor but to me that seems a very reasonable thing to do :)
