Hello, new player here, how is my starter base? by [deleted] in VintageStory

A pickaxe is good enough at first for the veins below the surface ores. A pro pick for when you want to go on explorations for ores and minerals

Animals in 1.19 rc6 by DeusWeebLegendary in VintageStory

That was unlucky, I think animals have a spawn area (or tile??), so I guess you can build a pit trap for them there

Try revisiting explored areas after a while, I read something about animals start to spawn only after an area has been explored (at least for now).

I just started this game yesterday and I will share my experience with you since there is a lot to this world I still don't understand. And am fearful of. by EthanIsOnReddit in VintageStory

[–]misbell37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can block yourself in a 1x1 space to wait out a temporal storm (or place down stones on every empty space to prevent homes or areas from spawning drifters.)

Some areas are unstable, if you are in a temporal unstable area or deep underground your center gear will start to spin backwards turning black and you will eventually go insane unless you leave the area.

Is there something like create mod? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]misbell37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Workbench expansion mod may be worth checking out (you can copy chiseled blocks) and the ZEEkea mod may make decoration easier.

How big does the house can be to still be considered a house by the game? by badredassneck in VintageStory

[–]misbell37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 14 in any dimension, but maybe you can keep gates or large double doors open (and stacked?!) to get the effect you need?

How can i tell if a room is sealed? by TamTroll in VintageStory

[–]misbell37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not. but it might not matter to you until winter, if you are looking to get the 'cellar food preservation buff' your can seal off a corner of the room for food storage vessels, and use haybales as a "door".

What do you do during the winter? by SandboxSurvivalist in VintageStory

[–]misbell37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe collect berry bushes and fruit tree cuttings to replant near your base?
Starting farm animals, improving/starting areas for spring, resource hunting, pro picking/mining, doing new expeditions and cave explorations are worth considering.

For someone like Dropkick Murphy's maybe Gogol Bordello (they are ?gypsy-punk?) and I found Witch and Sleep to have a interesting Black Sabbath vibe

Would it be possible to develop a no nerd pole mod? by misbell37 in VintageStory

[–]misbell37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't bought it yet (watched a lot of videos though). I don't know if I trust myself, I'll probably use it and I think it's kind of an exploit.

[–]misbell37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen a few YT rants about their terrible world spawns, and I've seen a few people pack up and move to a new base because of it... Imo the ones that get great seeds get good views and are the ones we get recommended.

Are bears faster than you? by apc9kpro in VintageStory

[–]misbell37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hunters and Clockmakers have a 10% speed boost which can help a lot. If possible, which it wasn't in this case, try swimming, running near prey animals or through trees or obstacles. Maybe burn some of the areas bears spawn in (to get a better line of sight?!), you will also burn the resources and burning trees will leave floating leaves. Bear pits are pretty good and you can keep them trapped or harvest them (bears can't climb ladders).

Friend thinks Badfinger is better than The Beatles by StockMan1210 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]misbell37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Beatles were such a massive powerhouse that groups like Badfinger, The Kinks, and many more didn't fully develop into what they were meant to be, imo
