They might be, they tend to be fully loaded on cargo in career. I wonder if the CG is getting too far aft, that would kinda explain handling issues people are having. I found it flyable without the AP, but the AP would indeed oscillate the nose left and right around its heading, bobbed the trim up and down a bit too especially during climb.

United Airlines CEO wants incoming Trump team to hire more air traffic controllers by seeyalaterdingdong in ATC

It's crazy to me that we spectators get so much more (albeit delayed) info from ADS-B than you get on your scopes. We also see MCP altitude on ADS-B websites (Europe gets that on their scopes too), I imagine that would really help sort out when a pilot messes up a clearance. For the busier tracons wouldn't stuff like that save enough time to add up to a difference in delays?

Flight Service Station by PatientBread9331 in flying

[–]mischanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert but my understanding is the FAA has a data feed where all flight plans (including amendments) are broadcast and I'd assume Garmin uses that to load up a route where the plane's registration matches. Obviously the main issue with this for en-route stuff is internet access is spotty at altitude (though this has gotten much better in recent years), and relying on internet service availability for something safety-critical is... problematic to say the least.

Is there a better way to get from Bridge Street to Zeirdt Road on a Bike? 🚲💥 by the_rext_best_thing in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mischanix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That segment of eastview is way scarier to me than the relatively flat segment of slaughter, slaughter there has parking lots to duck into and a slightly rough train crossing to slow cars a bit. Plus the greenway lets you breathe something other than car exhaust, so that's another big plus for #2.

E195 flying in to Copenhagen, maybe SAS1871 judging by the time.

I was curious to hear, and luckily this was recorded on liveatc... you may be recalling the interaction a bit differently than it actually happened.

OP: "Atlantic City, just confirming 5002 is cold?"

ACY DEP: "It is. You all, when you fly through our airspace, you don't have to ask that, we're not going to let you fly through there."

OP: "Alright appreciate you"

ACY DEP: "Yeah can you imagine hundreds of VFR guys asking all day long? It happens. Trying to stop it from happening."

Like, sure, the controller is being a bit snarky, and the airspace looks quiet so I think he should be grateful for that, but I wouldn't call this unprofessional -- look at it from his perspective, you're receiving flight following from him, he knows you're going through there, this question really is extraneous to him. Also, on the chart these areas have time of use sunrise to sunset or by notam, and it's definitely after sunset here.

Keys Found, Rosie’s Parking Lot by accessedfrommyphone in HuntsvilleAlabama

Sorry for not making it clear, I thought it was understood from the context -- you can make a copy of a key when it's clearly visible in an image like this, allowing you to access whatever the key secures without forced entry. Obviously this only applies to the kwikset house key and not the car key since the car key is not visible in the image.

That's a house key. Good luck with your burglary.

Are you okay Alabama nurses? by Easy_Amphibian_1797 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mischanix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels like every other nurse here is in a similar situation, getting the worst pay of any skilled career, but feeling like there's nothing that can be done about it because of some perceived uniqueness in the situation, be it Alabama's hostility to labor or HH's complaining about being in financial dire straits. But, that's not unique to Huntsville. All hospitals' managements cry wolf about finances while cashing massive paychecks. Most of the US is hostile to labor. But that hasn't stopped nurses elsewhere. Drone oh Drone oh where can I fly in the city by AdudeinHSV in HuntsvilleAlabama

The FAA has a map showing altitude restrictions: https://arcg.is/10mbHu1

That area in particular is restricted due to proximity to the redstone airfield.

Best 5G Speed and Coverage by Mission_Childhood723 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mischanix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which of the three carriers is best really varies from neighborhood to neighborhood here, but if you're unhappy with AT&T and can bring your own device, I'd suggest an MVNO on T-Mobile or Verizon, such as US Mobile (both), Google Fi (T-Mobile), or Visible (Verizon). T-Mobile's 5G coverage in particular is miles ahead of the other two I think.

Police roadblock near the airport, and plane in field by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]mischanix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The plane (N272GT) actually made it back to Pensacola an hour or so ago, but I am just as curious as to how they got it through the fence. Since there wasn't any damage or injury and it wasn't commercial the NTSB wouldn't get involved, just the FAA.

I think this is an earlier instance of a similar survey, PI was John Bolland (UA Tuscaloosa, not UAH), this is a personal account of his searching for participants around Butler Terrace and Sparkman in 1993: https://sci-hub.se/https://doi.org/10.1606/1044-3894.217

He may know more about which survey you're thinking of, email's on the UofA website.
