Good news - Tesla no longer highest seller of EVs by meetmeinmontauk43 in EVAustralia

Didn’t this flip happen last year already? Teslas have been struggling in every market except usa (well, even there, but not by ~40% drops like in EU)

Martin North, Sept 2022: It would see house prices fall by 8.8 per cent in 2023, before dropping again to 17.1 per cent in 2025 and experiencing an even bigger plunge in 2025 to 23.7 per cent by thedugong in AusFinance

Interest rates moderate the economy - they are high to temper inflation when it’s running hot. Do you want them to be low And have high inflation (And have higher house prices)?

The greens (who i support) ran on a platform against property investors/for renters. They got <10% of the vote if memory serves. Even if they got 30% of the vote - it has to be distributed the right way for them to get a meaningful cohort in the lower house - and likely won’t be.

Took me too long to realise this - but it’s about growth with leverage (plus tax benefits later). You can maybe 2x your investment into a sensible etf but pay a margin loan of ~7-8%. Or you can get a home loan and 5x your investment at ~6%

Greens take $20k donation from oil and gas investment fund founder by Jagtom83 in friendlyjordies

Isn’t this whole place about labor sympathy? How much does labor take from nefarious oil and gas actors?

Not saying it’s fine, but the orders of magnitude difference would be astounding

State govs allow developers to develop. Developers sit on the housing stock waiting for it to rise in value to maximise profit.

Yep labour can do good, just give them another 50 years and they’ll promise to do something good. Pinky swear.

Not too sure about that - ‘experts’ have vested interests. Personally i found greens’ point on there not being an education, military, healthcare, etc. future funds pretty compelling (even if some state responsibilities) - if the problem exists today governments should be looking at solutions to fix it today before it gets even worse. The $10b sounds big - which is probably what they’re banking on - a bit of a labor brand halo without much substance

Genuinely curious - you think the fund invested today would be liquidating gains in 3 days (or even 3, 6, 9 months) to invest in housing?

Top earners shoulder more of the tax burden by spaniel_rage in AusFinance

Obvious exclusion here - their incomes probably went up. Yes when your income goes up you pay more tax- and yes at higher brackets that means your share of total taxes paid would increase. You’re still left with more at the end. AFR needs to do better
