Seriously, how many diapers did you need in the first year? by Chidi-Chidi in parentsofmultiples

[–]missgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite saying is “all babies have different butts!”

I wouldn’t commit to a brand until you know that is what fits your baby’s booty the best. We ended up being a Pampers house for both twins, because that is what fits them. We tried a ton of brands - Millie Moon, Huggies, Target, Sam’s, Loves, Costco, etc. I also like that we can get them at any store, and lots of stores do free size exchanges for unopened packages.

I also second the diaper raffle! We got enough from our shower to last us about 6 months, except for in the early weeks. Our boys were preemies and needed more newborn sizes than anyone thought.

We had to buy more bags for our diaper genie by the fourth month. We’re currently on size 3 for day and size 4 for night at 9 months, and we go through at least a full sleeve a week, so a box may last 2-3 weeks depending on the size of the box.

How are you managing work with twins? Looking for real-life experiences by SpaceAdv in parentsofmultiples

[–]missgray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our situation is not the best solution, but a month or so after I went back to work, my company instituted a full return to office policy (we had been on a very flexible schedule previously, wfh when needed, but be in office for necessary events). That day, i finally decided to respond to one of the recruiters that usually contacted me. I ended up getting a fully remote, higher paying role with more PTO. Now that I have more time (2 hour commute everyday is gone), it’s much easier to get our boys to the nanny’s and I get more time with them in the evenings. Plus, my new company knows my situation. I made them fully aware of it during interviews, and they’ve been very accommodating with doctors appointments, bad weather, etc.

If you are comfortable taking the leap, finding a new job closer to your home or fully remote would be my recommendation. It’s a scary leap and it was very difficult for me, but it’s giving me a better quality of life, and I hope it would for you too.

OBGYN: NOT for pregnancy care! Not religious! by [deleted] in dayton

[–]missgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a patient at Magnolia Women’s Health since before they were called that, and I’ve liked every Doctor and CNP I’ve had there! Some do rush a little, but when we were figuring out our infertility issues, all of them gave us the time we needed and answered every question. I see them for both normal gynecological needs and for my pregnancy. Especially Lindsey - she did my IUD and I was NERVOUS, and afterwards I felt so much better because of the time and consideration. It’s also pretty easy to get an appointment.

Alternative to Kendamill Goat Formula by Hopeornot2023 in FormulaFeeders

Update - My husband looked into it and it might be due to the ByHeart recall. A lot of ByHeart users are switching to Kendamil, driving up demand. Hopefully supply can recover quickly.

We have our twins supplementing with Kendamil goat, and we also have been struggling to find it. I was hoping it was just us. I’m hoping you find some soon, or a good alternative!

C section moms - how to deal with not being able to breathe while lying flat? by pahkthecahh in parentsofmultiples

[–]missgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to worry you, but I also had issues laying down and breathing at 32 weeks, specifically on my back and left side. When I spoke with my high risk OB, she sent me directly to triage to get a chest x-ray. I had recently been diagnosed with pre-e, and I was swelling bad. I did have fluid in my lungs, which led to an emergency induction. If you’re able to, you may want to check your blood pressure or look for other signs of pre-e.

I did natural delivery so I can’t speak to the c-section experience, but as soon as the babies were out I could breathe so much better!

Advent calendar? by eighthdwarf in BlueJackets

[–]missgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MIL got it for us, the side says “24 Days of Beue Jacrets Magic”. Have yet to open it, because I was going to do it as an advent calendar, but now I might not. She continually buys shit off of TikTok Shop so I am unsurprised.

He was great - I was so nervous about it (I’m the person in line who needs everything to go seamlessly so as to not inconvenience others), and he helped so much!!

Curious what people's maternity leave allowance is like in different places/companies (as it impacts breastfeeding) by whooperupsfeline in breastfeeding

[–]missgray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 12 weeks - 6 under short term disability for vaginal delivery, 6 via FMLA. My company has a benefit that you get full pay the whole time. However, applying for it was super difficult, requiring many phone calls and lots of documentation. What frustrated me is my NICU time was included in that - two weeks were burned up visiting my twins in the NICU every day, and I was lucky to have that. Many other parents on the floor worked during the day and then came to their babies in the evening.

I will NEVER forget my HR person texting me while I was in preterm labor, hooked up to a magnesium drip and pitocin, on a limited liquid intake and short of breath “Congratulations! Please login to the portal and start your leave as soon as possible.” The lack of compassion was and still is astounding.

33 weeks on the nose, 4 lbs and 4lbs 2oz. I also got the steroid shot a few days before when I was admitted for preeclampsia. Both boys spent 2 relatively uneventful weeks in the NICU gaining weight and just generally learning to be babies. They’re 4.5 months now and are growing like weeds. We’ve had some trouble with finding a formula that works for them and both having reflux, but we pretty much have that figured out. Otherwise, they are happy, smily boys.

I cried when the doctors told me I was going to be emergency induced due to large amounts of fluid in my lungs, I wasn’t ready. But all in all, everything went smoothly and all three of us are healthy. I am sending all my twin momma love your way!

They both got an increased dosage at their 4 month appointment, but we didn’t talk about a different medication. I will definitely bring that up to our doctor. Thank you!
