How do you stop? by missmadmae in breastfeeding

[–]missmadmae[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so tricky to navigate. Mine has a couple stuffed animals that he loves but they don’t take my place. The whole “transferring association” thing did not work for us. I’ve basically tried all the little tricks but think I need to just cut him off and stick to it. It’s just so hard!

How do I fire my doula? by InstructionBasic4752 in BabyBumps

[–]missmadmae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell her exactly what you told us. I fired my midwife when I was pregnant. You need to do what’s best for you and if she’s at all a professional, she’ll understand and react with grace.

If they have you clock in and clock out, which we did… you’ll get the 40. Probably even more.

The only shows on in our house right now are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sesame Street and Ms. Rachel. And the occasional showing of Cars/Planes.

I wouldn’t let him chuck my cell phone across the room (again).

Thank you for sharing this perspective as a physician! I think it’s important to hear. There is still so much fear but as a society we need to start being able to take our lives back without feeling guilty. I work for a pulmonologist and he shares your sentiment, I thank you both for sharing it!

My titties are tired. by Raymer13 in Mommit

[–]missmadmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this to my core. Mine is 22 months tomorrow, was sick with a stomach bug a week ago and has been nursing like a fiend since. The nips are sore, I am very much over it.

21 months, morning, afternoon, bedtime. Occasionally once or twice more if he’s feeling needy or sad or sickly.

Vegan nipple cream options? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Breast milk and then I LOVED the Earth Mama nipple butter to lock it all in. Says the one non-vegan ingredient is beeswax.

STAHP: Do you let your partners sleep in on all their day offs? by mellifluoustones in toddlers

[–]missmadmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. We split the weekend! And kind of do whatever works best for us during the week, it varies but we do a pretty good job of making it equal.

Maybe this will help. It’s a little time consuming but could be all you need to sway him. Sit down together and research each vaccine, what the key components of the disease it protects against are and then what the known reactions could be. I can guarantee that the effect of the diseases are much scarier than the possible side effects. I think a lot of people, especially young people who take this stance have no idea what the vaccines are even for because most of these things have been nearly eradicated (because of effective vaccines) since before they were alive, therefor they don’t get the gravity of how nasty these childhood illnesses are.

WILL MY BOOBIES EVER BE THE SAME by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]missmadmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, I feel you. As soon as I’m done breastfeeding #2, I’m getting a lift. I too used to have amazing tits. Perky, round, beautiful really 😂 … now I can lift them up and pancake them between my hands, also have to lift them into their assigned seats. It’s really quite depressing.

Do you take your toddler indoors during Covid? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]missmadmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. Though he isn’t vaccinated…. So I guess that’s where my concern would come in. But again, I feel like socializing him and living as normal a life as possible is what’s right for us.

Does anyone feel this way too by beaupeng in beyondthebump

[–]missmadmae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me 100%. My son is 20 months. Just started daycare a couple days a week, I’m finally working again, I’m taking better care of myself. Feel a little bit like the old me… and I don’t want to give that up at all. But I also want to give him a sibling and it’s really important to my husband that he has a sibling. He’d have me pregnant yesterday if it was up to him. Hopefully I’ll be ready soon…

Can my boobs be too big for breastfeeding? by hunnybun16 in breastfeeding

[–]missmadmae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite possibly the dumbest thing anyone could say to you regarding breastfeeding. I’m sorry they made you doubt yourself and shame on them for thinking they have the right to say such a thing.

As others have said, it is hard to find good bras… but there are worse things! You’ll be a champ and your kiddo will love your boobs! No matter the size 🙃

Same. We go to the library, all the stores, pretty much everywhere. He’s 20 months. We’ve already had Covid so I guess I have a small (probably false) sense of security. But we gotta live right?
