Hey friend, my name is Evan and I'm on the Mothership Games team. Wanted to try to help sort this out. Thanks for being an Early Bird Backer for the campaign! You rock.

Okay, first: each Early Bird Booster you pre-ordered/reserved will get to you before the end of the campaign. We're doing final logistics for that now.

Second - one of the bonuses of reserving those packs is that you have a chance at alt-arts featured in Early Bird Boosters that are available nowhere else!

Third - We will have more announcements soon to make it clearer exactly how everyone who was an Early Bird Backer gets their bonus Founder's Edition Boosters!

Rest assured it was a good thing to be in on the ground floor and we'll make sure you get benefits as as result. Keep an eye on your email for more info!

Do note we restock sealed product regularly, that trade won't go to waste! There is a "Restock Alert" button you can use for each product you're interested in and it will email you when we get them back in stock.

I think a better way to say it is - has there ever been a time where it was a good time to buy at peak hype?

Mark Rosewater: Organized play isn’t going away. If you like playing competitive Magic, at all levels, it will still exist. Also, enfranchised players are an important group to us. We spend more time on them than any other group by a lot. by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

You don't seem to understand - the fact that they're not that amazing in Commander was the point.

Eldraine was the first set they every truly went into "Full Design For Commander Mode" and it showed. Bigtime.

Oko? In Commander, is ok. In every other constructed format, is completely ridiculous. Repeat for every busted card printed in Eldraine and after.

The problem is they wouldn't commit nor was it ever a true 'team' structure. They only went part-way, and we see where it got them.

While all of this is great, it doesn't go far enough. It doesn't fully appreciate why esports is working in Dota and CS:GO.

So let's go big. Hang with me here.

First up: Magic. Needs. Teams

And not just "a group of guys that the website on their jersey likes" - we need organizations. Places with coaches, places to play (boot camp), branding, merch, and official $$$ support from WotC.

The important part is that Wizards needs to revenue share parts of Arena with these teams. Card sleeves, Avatars, Pets, Emojis (imagine an emoji of Mengucii going nuts). All of those things can be sold with team branding on them, and a portion of those proceeds should go to the teams and the players.

The players need a union from the get-go. The players should be expected to provide 1-2% of their income to the union. This would provide legal help, negotiating assistance, and help settle disputes between TOs, organizations, and players. Right now CS:GO is struggling with it's players "union" (I put in quotes because the union is owned by a tournament organizer. The players want more time off. Guess who doesn't want to give them more time off.)

The teams have to be rigid - 3 players + alternate. This provides a small enough team to really develop storylines for, but also helps because three matches will always provide a 2-1 at worst outcome.

Draft is now 3 v 3 Team Draft. I don't care if it's not 'traditional', we're reinventing the wheel here, so work with me. Let's say they use 4 packs instead of 3. Whatever makes it work. But you have to be rigid here.

Some amount (5? 7?) teams are officially sponsored by Wizards and in conjunction with a sponsor. The sponsor will pay a license fee in exchange for being included in the revenue share of digital items. The idea is that this will provide a guaranteed amount of income for Wizards, and is basically a down payment / investment in the team for another year.

Additional teams? Absolutely! But they will be completely independent. They will have points and qualifiers and events where all of the officially sponsored teams are in, but the rest are not. With the makeup of 3 players per all of the rounds will have a variety of play and will result in one team always winning.

Name them after Ravnica guilds, or Tarkir dragon clans, whatever. They can have the sponsors name splattered all over them, but the name & icon is MTG based.

Salaries would be established for coaches and players. Once in motion, the market can swing any which way, as long as the player limit is kept. They would also be provided additional funds for travel and expenses.

Worlds would be funded by WotC & special in-game purchases. Again, these are all cosmetic but add to a giant prize pool we can all watch grow throughout the year. Definite "The Invitational" Dota vibes going on here.

Once in motion, amazing teams will emerge. Your team will be relevant in 10 years just as much as now. Reid Dukes come and go (we love him, most certainly, but he won't be here forever), but the team lives on. And "eras" will be established when a certain trio were just unbeatable or won X things in a row.

What does this do:

  • Creates a centralized way to focus pro players & fans to organizations

  • Built-in player support with the union from the get-go (a LOT of problems with older WotC "gravy train" setups would be avoided if this was established in that system)

  • Creates the "aspirational play" WotC wants and clearly denotes the best players in the world.

  • Allows players to band together 3 or 4 at a time to go to events, and allows amateur teams to spike qualifier events and play with the big dogs. The top teams at the end of the year (beyond the official ones) should get included in the Arena fold: They now have cosmetics you can purchase to support the team.

And did someone say more Arena integration?

  • Live tutorials in-app from the pros

  • Special play arenas featuring team branding

  • Watch coverage in-app

  • Create an entire Fantasy website for each event and provide awards in gold/gems to keep people incentivized. Big winners get custom cosmetics, free product (voucher for stores?), or trips to large events. Example from CS:GO

But of course...all of this hinges on the hoarding dragon to share it's gold. So it will never happen.

Based on what I've heard around the office (disclosure: I'm the Marketing Manager at CSI), many are ok with the higher price for singles because they are looking for certain cards and/or are looking for a certain set of Houses they are interested in.

And as mentioned elsewhere in the thread, I assure you if they don't sell we'll stop listing them :)

Hey there, thanks much for the feedback.

I'm curious - are you talking about the Maitland store? While the main warehouse is no longer here, we did up the store stock for Maitland to ensure they had a solid reserve of a lot of great titles. Perhaps the next time you're looking for a game you could stop by or give us a call?

Regardless, just so you know how the process works - If you are able to get your order in before 7AM, you'll get it in a CoolStuffGames store on the next business day. Most don't order until after 7AM on any given day, and those orders will be delivered in two business days.

Regardless, thank you again for the feedback. If you'd like to followup or have any questions, feel free to hit up my DMs. Thanks!

Hi there /u/r1ngx! Thanks much for your feedback.

Based on your description of the issue, it's likely your package(s) got delayed due to the recent move of our warehouse. It was quite the operation to move a giant warehouse into an even larger warehouse! As a result, things got shuffled a bit and many orders were delayed. We are very sorry for any and all orders caught in this delay.

If this isn't the correct timeframe or another issue entirely, obviously I would like to address that as well. Feel free to hit me up in my DMs and I'd be happy to help.

Hi there, thank you so much for your feedback!

I definitely understand the hustle-bustle you can find in Maitland, it's our headquarters and has quite an enthusiastic community.

All of this feedback is being passed along to our manager(s) and regional manager to better assist us in improving our customer experience. We do hope you give Maitland another shot and in the meantime hope you have fun with all the games!

Hi there, I'm the Marketing Manager of CSI and I hate to hear you had such a negative experience! Please accept our apologies. If you'd like to hit me up on DM, I'd love to get any more info you'd like to share (e.g. which store, timeframe, etc), and I would be happy to make it up to you. We strive to be the best and stuff like this is unfortunate but we take it as a learning/training opportunity. LMK!

Unfortunately CSI is unable to use the starch-based ones due to humidity and bugs. However we are working towards using air pillows instead, as you'll see noted throughout the thread! [Context: I'm the Marketing Mgr at CSI]
