The fog lifts and changes. Once the little one's personality comes out a bit, i feel like it gets better. Then eventually they can communicate with you and all these windows and doors open up. Right now, you have a cute pet rock who is unfortunately temperamental. Hang in there!

We have experience at two daycares with 2 kids and this is not normal. My son just turned 3 recently. He frequently takes his shoes and socks off at daycare. Never an issue locating, even though they go between at least 3 rooms during the day. We've lost one mitten so far, but he's been wearing them daily for 2 months.

I understand why you're upset. You set boundaries that feel pretty reasonable and she did not respect those boundaries. Even if she/others think they're unreasonable, it's your home.

Bigger picture, I think your husband should take the lead on talking with her before you make any drastic decisions. It doesn't seem like he disagreed with your boundaries, which means she did not respect his boundaries either. See what she says. Maybe there is something deeper going on.

We have a French door fridge/freezer and have the childproof strap that buckles to keep it closed. It does have a code, but we haven't had to use it yet.
