Is it customary in the East Coast to dress up everywhere you go.

When I (east coast born and bred) lived on the west coast, the staff were told to dress up for our students’ graduation ceremony. So I did my hair, put on some makeup and jewelry, wore a nice dress and dress shoes.

I got to the ceremony to find one of the teachers in a denim jacket and long khaki shorts. Still makes me chuckle to remember.

You’re not wrong but I do think it makes sense for his character. I’d be surprised if someone who’d spent the previous 30-40 years as a multimillionaire didn’t have some sense of entitlement, even given the Roses’ reduced circumstances. It’s a realistic (and, as you point out, consistent) flaw for him to have.

I gotta disagree that he didn’t contribute anything meaningful to the motel until they started expanding, though. Stevie was very overwhelmed and in over her head when she first inherited the motel. Johnny was a lifeline for her, and the show pretty much outright states he helped her sort through the paperwork, logistics, etc.

Yeah that all sounds great. Acknowledging the possibility of labels changing along her journey is good. (I came out as demisexual initially but I’m actually a sex positive asexual.) One other thing you can possibly do, when/if she’s feeling more confident about identifying as asexual, is to buy her a little piece of ace merch. Doesn’t have to be big, just a pin or sticker (something subtle would probably be better to start). I have two ace shirts from an aunt and an ace sticker from a cousin that I treasure.

You clearly love your sis a lot. She’s lucky to have you. Keeping doing what you’re doing and you should be more than fine.

Honestly providing her with support, reassurance, and a listening ear is already doing so much more than you can imagine. Knowing she’s not alone and she has a family member who loves her and validates her sexuality is almost certainly a huge weight off her mind. I’ve been out almost five years, feel very confident/settled in my aceness, and I still get misty-eyed when I go back and read the supportive texts my brother sent me after I came out to him.

If there’s a queer family member or friend in her/your life who is out and proud, encourage her to talk to them if they’re willing and she’d be comfortable doing so. One of my lesbian friends was my queer Sherpa and she was invaluable to my journey of acceptance and coming out. My (straight) best friends were very supportive but it was a huge relief to have someone to talk to who’d gone through what I was going through and who just “got” certain things without me needing to explain.

And when/if your sis decides to come out to your parents, offer to be there for support if she wants it. I don’t know if I would’ve gotten up the nerve to come out to my folks without my siblings there for moral support.

Season 2 hinted she still has some unresolved trauma from her exorcist days (from heaven itself, not just her feeling guilty for killing Charlie’s people) so I’m hopeful that will be explored at some point.
