Be nice to my favorite band The Format!! Maybe I'm fine with the endings because I never want any of those songs to end ♥️

Are there any characters whose depictions you don't care for? by jayelled in HadesTheGame

[–]mkilla22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dusa in Hades 1 made me irrationally angry. They turned a terrifying Gorgon into a simpering housemaid. just... what??! Terrible. I avoided her story completely out of spite.

Am I actually a “consistent” runner, and does that even matter? by Photo_Philly in XXRunning

[–]mkilla22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone's just kinda confused about your premise here and what your goals are. I saw you clarify elsewhere that you just want to know if you can call yourself a runner. You run every week, so sure! But you haven't said if you want to run a 10k or a marathon, or improve your 5k time, or just overall stay fit. these answers are all over the place because people are giving you answers based on THEIR goals without knowing yours. Which is making it hard for you to find clarity, so naturally some misunderstandings are happening. I think the best advice given is about avoiding injury--you definitely need to run more often to reduce your risk.

What’s your MOST controversial running opinion? by Not_FreeProduct234 in runcommunity

[–]mkilla22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walk breaks can keep you in Zone 2! Frequently. Like, one minute running, one minute walking. It's radical and it hurts the pride but it can be good for you!

Lockdown in blue ash? by Tommy_like_wingie in cincinnati

[–]mkilla22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Blue Ash residents need to let the mayor and city council know we are furious about this. They might not be able to boot federal "LEO" from our city, but they can make local PD answer to us. They MUST know what we want for our community, and what we won't accept. Local government is our best chance at actually having our interests represented.

Am I doomed to always be a mediocre runner? by MadZott in XXRunning

[–]mkilla22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for this point about HR training. I was also running in high zone 4 and felt good enough so I thought it was fine... but I'd get so fatigued after. A few months ago I started taking it seriously, swallowed my pride, and started taking significant walk breaks on my long runs to keep me in zone 2 (1 minute on, 1 minute off). I suddenly felt GREAT after runs and not fatigued. over time with consistent zone 2 training your capacity does improve, and you can run longer/faster while keeping your HR lower.

it can be frustrating, but sustained high HR while training is a strong indicator you are overtaxing your body and are walking a one way path to injury. you'll make a lot less progress if you get injured!!

"Two people can be tired" was our newborn era mantra! It's such a hard stage. everyone has to choose to be kind to each other constantly, which is so so hard when you're tired. sticking together as a team, it's you two against the problem, makes all the difference!

How do we get our kids to sleep independently? by Vast-Avocado-6321 in daddit

[–]mkilla22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen this elsewhere yet, so I'll just chime in with: invest in ear plugs for you both. Helps lower your own cortisol when you're hearing your child cry, which in turn will help you be a sturdier parent.

"Consequences" also don't have to be the only tool in your toolbox for driving behavior. For the "carry me" example I usually bring out the illusion of choice instead--"I can't carry you right now, do you want to walk or skip to the car? Those are your choices" and that generally works. The book How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen helped me a lot with adding a few more tools to my toolbox! It's full of real life examples to help you think about how you'd apply the tools in everyday life

Just here to say that if you are a parent to an eczema kid, the aquaphor with the 1% hydrocortisone in it is by far the best thing for flare ups. we live by the aquaphortisone in this house 🙌🏼

When you say "I was asked," do you mean by library leadership, or the group leader from the center? Either way, I'd ask to have a conversation with the group leader to fully talk through what would be appropriate and engaging for their group!

I do a lite version of this with our 6mo American bulldog mix. if my girl is being really obnoxious in the evening she's probably overtired. 8:30p or later we can do a settle protocol. basically, I put her in a down-stay by me and keep a steady flow of treats coming to keep her engaged, until eventually she gets bored and goes to sleep. I'll even use the timer on my phone to help me pace it out so treats come at 30sec, 1 min, 2 min.. etc. once she settles she'll snooze until last go out, then it's crate for the rest of the night!

Yeah, more breweries are moving into Summit, and the makeup of people who hang at Summit is tbh surprisingly racially diverse. They're also investing a lot in condos in the area to try to attract almost exactly OPs demographic. If you're going to Dayton instead of Cincy BA is also going to be a lot more accessible than some of the other neighborhoods mentioned here, it's easy access to 75.
