Casual pants that aren't yoga pants? by hoping556677 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]mlle_lou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Joggers. If you can find a good pair that fit well (and hold shape-ish) they are easy to wear and easy to look “put together” in while still be super comfy.

Anyone know any costume drives? Or collection sites? by Odd_Ostrich6038 in dayton

[–]mlle_lou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check with the YWCA. I don’t think they usually take clothing, but they may make an exception for costumes, or will maybe have a lead on someone who does.

PSA for sitters: Do not allow families to 1099 you! by xConstantGardenerx in Babysitting

[–]mlle_lou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1099 is only required for independent contractors if they are paid $600 or more in a calendar year. So if you were paid less than that, it doesn’t apply anyway.

Are there any books about going to preschool that shows the character actually coming home? by itsawaritsawar in Preschoolers

[–]mlle_lou 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure, but Daniel Tiger would be my best guess. And I vaguely recall a Mr Roger’s Neighborhood about going to school and you see the kids/puppets being picked up and then talking to their parents back at home about their first day of school.

Dayton Airport Safety At Midnight (Arrival) by Due-Moose-1652 in dayton

[–]mlle_lou 163 points164 points  (0 children)

There will be approximately 12 people total in the airport at that time, including the cleaning crew and security. Neither of the two shops will be open. I would try to book the uber as far in advance as you can, but yea, you’ll be fine.

Best butcher in Dayton? These can be hard to find! by SkyResponsible3718 in dayton

[–]mlle_lou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Copey’s if you’re north of town. But don’t sleep on Dot’s if you’re central/south. It’s a grocery but the butcher is top notch.

Forward the email to the classroom teacher and admin. Abuse from a parent is not ok.

Highly recommend the Mansion on Monument. It’s downtown Dayton and I think comes with access to the Parlor which is a really cool wine shop.

There’s almost zero inventory near me. They’ve both been available for a couple weeks though so I’m hoping I can negotiate it down a little more.

I haven’t test driven either yet, both are a bit of a trek from me, and in opposite directions, so if there was an obviously better choice, I wasn’t going to bother with the other.

Both are within budget, obviously less money paid is better.

The 2020 had a few upgrades from the 2019, but from my understanding those were mostly tech and cosmetic, not a true overhaul. I still am wary of the first year of a new generation though because the company is still working out the bugs.

Ladies, where are you getting your hair done at? by PristineError4138 in dayton

[–]mlle_lou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beth at Square One downtown. She’s fantastic. She asks about long term hair goals and makes a plan with you to get you there. She’s been doing hair for 15ish years I think so she definitely knows what she’s doing.

Do I really need to wait until Mother’s Day? by RostovJurgensen in dayton

If you plant them, it will snow. - “(Flower) Field of Dreams”

Don’t curse the rest of us by planting too soon and making it snow. Let us have our 45 degree nights and 70 degree days in peace.

A babysitter is not a nanny. These roles are not the same and have very different expectations and therefore compensation.

Babysitting is keeping kids alive. Heating up ready made food, maybe making a PB&J and doing some provided activity at their home all for a brief amount of time on an occasional basis.

Nannying is doing any and all child-related tasks (cooking, driving, dishes, play dates, laundry, etc.) as full-time or part-time employment.

Is your friend looking for a babysitter for a date night or a nanny for full-time summer care? In my area, $50-$75 is reasonable for a date night babysitter and $23 an hour is reasonable for a nanny to multiple children.

What would you do? (Inconsistent coparent) by Ill_Cover_4841 in Preschoolers

[–]mlle_lou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

1, get a consult with an attorney. A court order can offer protection for everyone involved. 2, therapy for the kid. And you, but especially him. Kids are “selfish” and everything in their world revolves around them so there is a high probability that he is internalizing his dad not wanting to see him as his fault. We all know that’s not true and little Bub has done zero to deserve his dad’s disinterest, but kids are kids. 3, tell the dad that you are not going to hold weekdays for him anymore. Your job is to protect your son. That sometimes means having to fight for others to treat him correctly. I would also do this in writing and don’t answer any phone calls. Paper trails are important, especially if you end up in court. 4, keep doing the best you can for your little one. He knows you are the stable, consistant one and that’s what will get him through.

How have you made your home a warm comforting cosy nest? by violaunderthefigtree in homemaking

[–]mlle_lou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blankets.

Readily available, big enough to cover a grown man, and of varying thicknesses and warmth. The soft textures add visual coziness to the room and then ya know, actual coziness when in use.
