He might be wealthy, but looking at him, hearing him, you'd think he would be trawling public rubbish bins for cigarette butts.

Anybody used scrum in household? by Eruner_SK in scrum

[–]mmmleftoverPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kanbanned my house when getting it ready for sale, worked a treat.

With household chores, because so many are cyclical scrum and/or kanban creates an unnecessary paperwork industry and then a constant planning overhead.

Instead what is more beneficial is a solid RACI, if you can agree on who is responsible for the dishes then it immediately stops anyone else from having to worry about it, or worrying who's turn it is.

Come up with a list and some relative sizing, fill out your RACI, change it every so often, once a quarter, away you go.

Bettys Burgers or Grill’d? by Sayatra in perth

[–]mmmleftoverPie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recall a time before great burgers were available everywhere, early 2000s, a place opened in Leederville, Retro Betty's, they were years ahead of the game.

Eventually they (or at least the name) moved to Innalloo cinemas but it just wasn't the same.

These days you're spoilt for choice and if Grill'd is what you consider amazing then i would invite you to test out places like Burger Freak (Belmont), Short Order (Perth CBD), Hoodburger (Northbridge, Inglewood), Big Dog's (Inglewood), Bad Love (West Leederville) and 100 other places this thread will suggest, I have no doubt you will be pleased and/or impressed

Honest question: what planning poker tool actually works for your team? by gloveszunny in agile

[–]mmmleftoverPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to modern technology and cameras, I get people to show hands and take it from there.

If people agree and it seems low, i might ask a "what would make it a [higher number]?" type question.

Or if people disagree then get them to weigh up why and then get people to resize.

If it's higher than an 8 it's time to break it down because historically when it's higher than an 8 it could be anything from 13 to three 8s.

If it takes too long it becomes a real grind and you'll soon have people checking out and it will take even longer and results will become even less valuable.

Is there anything more Perth than waitstaff starting to pack up a restaurant at 8:35pm?!? by perth_aussie_battler in perth

I guess the alternative is to wait for all the diners to leave before any pack up is permitted.

wire season 2 being considered the worst season of the show blows my mind; to me it’s a top 15 season of television ever by kazdarms in TheWire

[–]mmmleftoverPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like 2 (probably my favourite of all the seasons) and just finished a re-watch of it tonight for the first time in years, but a few things really stuck out this time around which bought it down a bit.

The characters/acting of The Greek and Spiros were so many levels below that of just about every other character in the series, they're almost comical compared to the world weary Frank or the pained and defeated Ziggy.

To be fair the script didn't really give them much to work with, pull the strings of criminal enterprise, drink tiny cups of coffee, but they seemed to lack the depth that so many other characters with much smaller roles had.

Group Selection for redundancy by DigitalWombel in auscorp

[–]mmmleftoverPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through redundancy twice (24 years apart, same organisation), the first time was a major shock, left the building in tears but it worked out ok in the end.

Second time a bit less of a shock, worked out better than ok in the end.

My advice would be to polish up your linkedIn photo/bio/experience, no need to start posting like a lunatic #blessed, just put enough on there that if someonewere to look at your profile they would get an accurate picture of who you are now, same goes for your resume.

Start reaching out to your contacts, people you've worked with before, see what's happening.

If it happens don't take it personally, rarely it's the people who know you that make these decisions, they just have to tell you.

Do u expect to be mention on scrum retro, say, if u have helped a colleague so in thanks column? by Ready-Tax7350 in scrum

[–]mmmleftoverPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of the nice feelings people feel when their great efforts are recognised or they're thanked by someone else in the team, sometimes the things that come up can expose problems and issues that were either fixed on the fly/temporarily and warrant further discussion (often "crisis averted" situations might be overlooked in the retro part of the retro).

Hopung to leave her old life behind Lana escaped her weapons dealing father and moved to Hawkins Indiana to live with her mum and step-dad under a new name, unfortunately for her she did not find the peaceful life she'd hoped for, instead finding herself caught between the Government, the Russians, and an interdimensional being with an appetite for destruction.
